Indian all-party delegations amplify anti-terror message worldwide

Must Read

India’s all-party delegations met global leaders in Germany, Africa, and the Middle East to discuss terrorism, post-Pahalgam attack. Emphasizing Operation Sindoor and India’s zero-tolerance stance, the delegations secured global solidarity in the fight against cross-border terrorism, strengthening diplomatic ties and international cooperation on security.

In the backdrop of the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, a strong diplomatic message has been conveyed by India through its all-party Parliamentary delegations meeting global leaders across continents. The initiative underscores India’s unwavering stand against terrorism and reflects the unified political will across party lines to combat cross-border threats.

A key part of this effort was an all-party Parliamentary delegation led by BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad, which met Johann Wadephul, the Foreign Minister of Germany. During the meeting in Berlin, Mr. Wadephul condemned the Pahalgam terrorist attack and reaffirmed Germany’s robust support for India’s anti-terrorism efforts. Emphasizing Germany’s solidarity, he assured that Germany continues to stand firmly with India in its fight against global terrorism.

The delegation further engaged with senior German leaders, including Omid Nouripour, Vice President of the German Parliament, and Armin Laschet, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee. Both leaders appreciated India’s principled and resolute stand against terrorism, including its firm response to the Pahalgam attack under Operation Sindoor. These meetings were described as constructive and meaningful, enhancing the understanding and cooperation between the two democratic nations.

Laschet highlighted that Germany and India enjoy a “trusted partnership,” particularly in the realm of global security. He reiterated Germany’s support for India’s counterterrorism actions and emphasized the importance of maintaining ceasefire agreements and ongoing dialogue in the region to avoid further escalation.

Meanwhile, another high-level Indian delegation led by NCP-SP MP Supriya Sule concluded its multi-nation visit to Qatar, South Africa, Ethiopia, and Egypt. On returning to India, they briefed External Affairs Minister (EAM) S. Jaishankar in New Delhi. The delegation’s objective was to bolster India’s diplomatic efforts and build international consensus on condemning terrorism, particularly focusing on Pakistan-sponsored cross-border terrorism.

Speaking to the media, Supriya Sule stated, “EAM S. Jaishankar wanted to hear our experience and the feedback we got from each country. We discussed it in great detail.” The delegation outlined key takeaways from their engagements with dignitaries such as Speakers and Vice Presidents, media representatives, and think tanks.

Addressing opposition criticism that the delegations met only MPs and not decision-makers, Sule clarified, “MPs are key decision-makers in any democracy. Moreover, each delegation met diverse dignitaries, ensuring comprehensive engagement.”

The delegation included representatives from multiple parties—BJP leaders Rajiv Pratap Rudy, Anurag Thakur, V. Muraleedharan; Congress leaders Manish Tewari and Anand Sharma; TDP’s Lavu Sri Krishna Devarayalu; AAP’s Vikramjeet Singh Sawhney; and former diplomat Syed Akbaruddin. Former Minister V. Muraleedharan noted that the meetings were impactful, with participating nations clearly condemning terrorism in India and supporting global anti-terror initiatives.

In a parallel diplomatic effort, EAM Jaishankar also met with another all-party delegation led by Shiv Sena MP Shrikant Eknath Shinde. This delegation visited the UAE, Liberia, Congo, and Sierra Leone. Among its members were Bansuri Swaraj, Atul Garg, Manan Kumar Mishra, Sasmit Patra, E.T. Mohammed Basheer, S.S. Ahluwalia, and former Ambassador Sujan Chinoy.

Across all these visits, the common theme has been the reinforcement of India’s zero-tolerance policy toward terrorism. The delegations effectively projected a unified national stance on terrorism, regardless of political affiliations. Operation Sindoor, India’s strategic counterterrorism response, was central to these discussions, serving as a powerful example of India’s proactive defense measures.

The backdrop of these diplomatic missions—especially following the heinous attack in Pahalgam—makes them even more significant. With global leaders standing in solidarity with India and expressing support, the visits mark a significant diplomatic success. India’s engagement with influential global policymakers further strengthens international consensus on the urgent need to dismantle terrorist networks and uphold peace.
