Advanced treatment at the Trauma Care Centre of AGMC and GBP Hospital, Agartala, saved the life of a 50-year-old man suffering critical respiratory distress. Doctors provided emergency airway management, free treatment under the Ayushman Card, and successfully discharged the patient after recovery.

The advanced medical facilities and timely intervention by doctors at the Trauma Care Centre of Agartala Government Medical College (AGMC) and GBP Hospital helped save the life of a 50-year-old man who was battling severe respiratory distress, highlighting the growing capability of the state’s healthcare system in handling critical emergencies.

According to the Health Department, Rajesh Laskar, a resident of Kamarpukur Para in Math Chowmuhani, Agartala, suddenly developed acute breathing difficulties at his residence. Alarmed by his deteriorating health condition, family members immediately rushed him to Indira Gandhi Memorial (IGM) Hospital for emergency treatment.

However, as his condition worsened rapidly, attending doctors referred him to the Trauma Care Centre at AGMC and GBP Hospital for specialized critical care. By the time he arrived at the Trauma Care Centre, his condition had become extremely serious, with his oxygen saturation level reportedly dropping below 20 percent, placing his life in immediate danger.

Recognizing the severity of the situation, the medical team acted without delay. Doctors initiated advanced airway management procedures, including endotracheal intubation, to restore the patient’s breathing. The life-saving intervention proved highly successful, with the patient’s oxygen saturation improving dramatically to 100 percent within just 15 minutes.

Following the emergency procedure, doctors and healthcare professionals continued intensive monitoring and treatment round the clock. Their dedicated efforts gradually stabilized the patient’s condition, allowing him to recover steadily over the following days.

After responding well to treatment, Rajesh Laskar was discharged from the hospital on June 20, only four days after being admitted to the Trauma Care Centre.

Expressing heartfelt gratitude, the patient’s wife described her husband’s recovery as nothing short of a miracle. She praised the doctors, nurses, and healthcare workers for their relentless dedication, saying they left no stone unturned in saving his life and gave their family renewed hope.

The treatment was carried out under the supervision of Trauma Care Centre In-charge Dr. Pulak Saha. The medical team included Dr. Samarjit Bhattacharya, Dr. Binoy Chakma, and Dr. Akash Tripura, whose coordinated efforts played a crucial role in managing the life-threatening emergency.

The Health Department stated that the patient received the entire advanced treatment free of cost under the Ayushman Card scheme, ensuring that financial constraints did not hinder access to critical healthcare services.

The patient’s family also conveyed sincere appreciation to the Health Department and the medical professionals at AGMC and GBP Hospital for their prompt response, expertise, and compassionate care.
