Former Tripura CM Manik Sarkar visited the bereaved family of Shubhrajit Chowdhury, who died from injuries sustained in the Ramnagar flat explosion in Agartala. CPI(M) leaders also inspected the blast site, expressing condolences and raising concerns over the tragic incident.
Former Tripura Chief Minister and veteran CPI(M) leader Manik Sarkar on Saturday visited the residence of late Shubhrajit Chowdhury (33), who succumbed to severe burn injuries after a devastating explosion at a flat in the Ramnagar 4 area of Agartala. Sarkar expressed his heartfelt condolences to the grieving family and assured them of his support during their difficult time.
The tragic explosion occurred two days ago when a powerful blast ripped through a residential apartment in Ramnagar, leaving Shubhrajit Chowdhury critically injured. He sustained extensive burn injuries and was immediately rushed to GB Pant Hospital for advanced medical treatment. Despite the continuous efforts of doctors, he succumbed to his injuries on Friday, leaving his family, friends and local residents in deep shock.
During his visit, Manik Sarkar met Shubhrajit’s wife, mother and other family members, offering his sympathies and sharing their grief. Several senior CPI(M) leaders accompanied the former Chief Minister and also extended their condolences to the bereaved family.

Following the visit to the residence, the CPI(M) delegation proceeded to the Ramnagar flat where the explosion occurred. The leaders inspected the damaged apartment and surrounding area to assess the extent of destruction caused by the blast. They also interacted with local residents, who described the terrifying moments following the explosion and expressed growing concerns over safety in residential buildings.
The incident has triggered widespread concern among residents of the locality, with many demanding a thorough investigation into the exact cause of the explosion. Authorities have already begun inquiries into the incident, while local people are awaiting a detailed report that could clarify what led to the fatal blast.
