Tripura Governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu visited Ashray, the retired employees’ residential quarter at Kunjaban, reviewed welfare facilities, interacted with residents, encouraged physical and mental well-being, and emphasized active participation in social and cultural activities for a healthy and dignified post-retirement life.
Tripura Governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu on Saturday visited Ashray, the residential quarter for retired government employees located at Kunjaban, where he reviewed the welfare facilities available for the residents and interacted with them to understand their well-being and daily living conditions.
The Governor was warmly received upon his arrival by Tapan Kumar Das, Special Secretary of the Department of Social Welfare and Social Education, along with the residents of Ashray. The visit formed part of the Governor’s ongoing efforts to assess the quality of welfare services being provided to senior citizens and retired employees residing in government-supported residential facilities.
During his interaction with the residents, Governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu encouraged them to prioritize both their physical and mental health. Stressing the importance of leading an active and meaningful life after retirement, he urged the residents to regularly participate in social, cultural, and recreational activities that help improve overall well-being and strengthen community bonds.
The Governor also toured different sections of the residential complex and inspected various facilities available at the shelter home. He reviewed the amenities provided for the retired employees and sought information regarding the arrangements made for their comfort, healthcare, safety, and day-to-day needs.
Special Secretary Tapan Kumar Das briefed the Governor in detail about the infrastructure, facilities, and welfare services available at Ashray. He also informed the Governor about the number of residents staying in the home and highlighted the initiatives being undertaken by the Department of Social Welfare and Social Education to ensure a safe, secure, and comfortable environment for the retired employees.
Officials present during the visit said the Governor appreciated the efforts being made by the department to maintain the residential facility and deliver essential welfare services to its occupants. He emphasized the importance of ensuring that senior citizens receive proper care, respect, and opportunities to remain socially engaged during their retirement years.
The Governor’s visit also provided residents with an opportunity to interact directly with the state’s constitutional head and share their experiences regarding life at Ashray. His interaction reflected the government’s continued commitment to strengthening social welfare initiatives and improving the quality of life for retired government employees.
Director of the Department of Social Welfare and Social Education, L. Ranchal, was also present during the Governor’s visit, along with other departmental officials who accompanied the Governor during the inspection of the residential home.
