Tripura CM Dr. Manik Saha says the govt is working to build a developed, self-reliant state through employment generation, women’s empowerment and stronger public services, as 16 drivers receive offer letters, 180 women get sewing machines, and the 52nd fire station opens.
The Tripura government is continuously working towards building a developed and self-reliant state by focusing on employment generation, skill development, women’s empowerment and improved public services, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha said on Sunday.
The Chief Minister made the remarks during a programme at Muktadhara Auditorium in Agartala, where he handed over offer letters to 16 newly recruited drivers of the Fire and Emergency Services Department. The programme also witnessed the distribution of sewing machines and financial assistance to trained women beneficiaries under the Agartala Municipal Corporation, while a newly constructed fire station at Manubankul in Sabroom was inaugurated virtually.
Speaking to the newly recruited drivers, Dr. Saha said government employment brings not only professional opportunities but also a significant responsibility to serve the people with honesty, dedication and perseverance. He congratulated the 16 recruits and wished them success as they begin their careers in the Fire and Emergency Services Department.
The Chief Minister said the state government has been undertaking several initiatives to create employment opportunities, enhance skills and strengthen service delivery mechanisms. According to him, these efforts are part of the broader objective of creating a developed and self-reliant Tripura where people can benefit from greater economic opportunities and improved public services.
The programme also placed considerable emphasis on women’s empowerment. Dr. Saha distributed sewing machines along with a stipend of Rs. 2,000 each to 180 trained women beneficiaries under the Agartala Municipal Corporation.
Describing the initiative as an important step towards women’s economic empowerment, the Chief Minister said providing livelihood-support equipment would help trained women utilise their skills to generate income and become financially self-reliant.
He said the government is working with a sincere approach towards women’s empowerment and expressed hope that such initiatives would contribute to wider socio-economic transformation. By enabling women to use their vocational skills for income generation, the programme is expected to support household economies while strengthening women’s participation in economic activities.
In another major development, Dr. Saha virtually inaugurated the newly constructed fire station at Manubankul in Sabroom from Muktadhara Auditorium. The facility is Tripura’s 52nd fire station.
The Chief Minister said the new fire station would fulfil a long-standing expectation of the people of Sabroom and surrounding areas. The establishment of the facility is expected to strengthen fire-fighting and emergency response capabilities in the region and enable faster services during emergencies.
The expansion of the Fire and Emergency Services network is also significant from the perspective of public safety, particularly in areas where residents previously had to depend on facilities located farther away. With the new station at Manubankul, emergency response infrastructure in the Sabroom region is set to receive a further boost.
Dr. Saha said the government’s development initiatives are being implemented with the objective of improving people’s lives while creating opportunities for employment, self-reliance and social advancement.
Minister Santwana Chakma, Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor Dipak Majumder, Secretary Kiran Gitte, senior government officials and other dignitaries attended the programme.
Prior to the official programme, the Chief Minister and other participants listened to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s monthly radio programme, ‘Mann Ki Baat,’ at Muktadhara Auditorium.

Dr. Saha said ‘Mann Ki Baat’ provides an important platform for the Prime Minister to directly connect with citizens and exchange ideas. He noted that the programme brings stories of achievements, innovative initiatives and social activities from different parts of the country before the wider public.
According to the Chief Minister, such stories inspire citizens to undertake positive initiatives and contribute to society. He also highlighted the role of party workers in taking public-oriented government schemes and development initiatives to people at the grassroots level.

The combination of employment opportunities, women-focused livelihood support and expansion of emergency infrastructure reflects the state government’s emphasis on inclusive development.
