TIPRA Motha strengthens its political base in Santirbazar as 366 voters from 133 families leave CPI(M) and BJP ahead of ADC Village Committee elections. Senior leaders welcomed the new members while urging grassroots workers to stay connected with public issues and regional aspirations.
Political activities have intensified in Tripura’s Santirbazar region ahead of the upcoming ADC Village Committee elections, with regional party TIPRA Motha claiming a major organisational expansion after inducting 366 voters from rival political parties.
The joining programmes were conducted in different villages under the 36-Santirbazar Assembly constituency, where supporters from both the Communist Party of India (Marxist) and the Bharatiya Janata Party formally joined TIPRA Motha along with their families.
According to party leaders, a total of 133 families shifted allegiance during three separate organisational meetings held in Madhyatila village, Rajapur and Charan Pai Para. The political development is being viewed as a significant boost for the regional party ahead of the grassroots-level elections in the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council.
The first joining programme took place at Madhyatila village, where 110 voters belonging to 42 families joined TIPRA Motha. The second and largest event was organised at Rajapur, where 167 voters from 63 families resigned from CPI(M) and BJP before joining the regional party. Another 89 voters from 28 families joined during a separate programme at Charan Pai Para.
Senior TIPRA Motha leaders attended all three events and welcomed the new members into the party fold. Among those present were MDC of 26-Birchandra Kalsi constituency Kenarum Reang along with party leaders Shah Alam Miah, Naren Reang, Prabin Kumar Reang, Pratap Reang, Arup Deb and Selim Miah.
Addressing party workers and supporters during the programmes, South Zonal Joint Chairman Harendra Reang stressed the importance of maintaining close contact with the people and addressing their grievances sincerely.
He said that increasing party membership alone would not ensure success unless workers actively stood beside the people during difficult times. He also urged party members to spread the political ideals and vision of Pradyot Bikram Manikya Debbarma to every household across the region.
Meanwhile, party leader Shah Alam Miah claimed that organisational activities were continuing rapidly across several villages throughout the day. According to him, extensive meetings and discussions were held in multiple areas including Jolai Bari, Sinduk Pathar, Monubankul, Harina, Chalita Chhara, Thakur Chhara, Das Para, Pal Para, Kala Chhara and Maichhara.
He stated that political discussions with local residents indicated growing support for TIPRA Motha among Bengali communities as well, adding that several more large-scale joining programmes are expected to take place within the next week.
