Permanent operation of the Agartala–Rani Kamalapati Express approved after efforts by Biplab Deb, improving Tripura’s rail connectivity with central India. The regular train service is expected to benefit passengers, students, professionals, and families travelling between Agartala and Bhopal.
A major improvement in railway connectivity for Tripura has been confirmed after the Central Railway Ministry approved the permanent operation of the Agartala–Rani Kamalapati Express. The decision came following a formal request made by former Tripura Chief Minister and Rajya Sabha MP Biplab Kumar Deb.
The train, which had earlier operated as a special service under numbers 01666 and 01665, will now run regularly as the 11666/11665 Agartala–Rani Kamalapati Express. The service connects Agartala with Rani Kamalapati Railway Station in Bhopal, providing an important travel route between the Northeast and central India.
The approval is expected to bring significant relief to passengers who frequently travel long distances for education, employment, medical treatment, and family purposes. Residents of Tripura had long demanded a stable and regular rail service connecting the state with major cities in central India.
Sharing the update through a social media post, Deb thanked Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for approving the proposal. He stated that the decision followed discussions held earlier regarding the importance of making the train service permanent for the benefit of Tripura’s residents.
The announcement has received a positive response from passengers, railway users, and various local groups across the state. Many believe the permanent train service will improve accessibility, reduce travel uncertainty, and strengthen economic and social ties between Tripura and other parts of the country.
