Tripura FM Pranajit Singha Roy avoids car travel within Agartala to support Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s fuel conservation appeal. The minister uses a scooter for short-distance travel and urges citizens to reduce unnecessary fuel consumption amid the global energy crisis.
Tripura Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy on Saturday announced that he would avoid travelling by car within Agartala city in response to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s appeal for fuel conservation amid the ongoing global energy crisis. Demonstrating his commitment to the initiative, the minister later travelled to the civil secretariat riding his son’s scooter.
Speaking to media persons, Singha Roy said he had decided to reduce the use of official vehicles for short-distance travel inside the city. He informed that he would also minimize the use of his security escort while travelling within Agartala.
“I have decided to let go of my security escort. During my short-distance travels within Agartala city, only one personal guard will accompany me. When I have to travel outside Agartala city, I have no other option but to use a car, but otherwise I will use a scooter for travelling within the city areas,” the minister stated.
Singha Roy also mentioned that he had recently returned to the state after being away for a few days and would now strictly follow the fuel-saving measures encouraged by the Prime Minister.
Highlighting the importance of public awareness, the minister said that conserving fuel and reducing unnecessary wastage are essential in the national interest, especially at a time when the world is facing an energy crisis. He emphasized that small individual initiatives can collectively contribute to a larger positive impact in the future.
