Senior BJP leader Rebati Tripura warns TIPRA Motha leaders of inevitable jail if corruption is proven, vows TTAADC audit, and asserts BJP’s rising strength in Tripura’s hill areas ahead of crucial ADC elections.
Senior BJP leader and former Member of Parliament from the East Tripura Parliamentary Constituency, Rebati Tripura, on Monday issued a stern warning to leaders of the TIPRA Motha, asserting that imprisonment would be inevitable if allegations of corruption were legally established.
Addressing a party rally at Demdum Kachucherra, Tripura expressed strong confidence about the Bharatiya Janata Party’s growing prospects in the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC). He claimed that public sentiment was rapidly shifting in favor of the BJP and predicted that the party would wrest power in the upcoming ADC elections.
“It has become almost certain that BJP is set to form the next administration in TTAADC,” Tripura told supporters. “People have already started stepping out of their homes to extend support. I am convinced, and in the coming days, even TIPRA Motha leaders will be convinced of this ground reality.”
Tripura alleged that BJP’s expanding footprint in the hill districts has unsettled the opposition camp. According to him, the increasing public inclination toward the BJP has triggered anxiety among rival political forces, prompting them to adopt aggressive tactics to halt the party’s organizational expansion in the Autonomous District Council areas.
“The growing public sentiment in favor of BJP has left them worried,” he said. “That is why they are furious and are using every possible method to stop our growth. TIPRA Motha does not want BJP to expand in the ADC because their misleading campaigns and alleged misdeeds will be exposed. Stopping BJP is equivalent to stopping development in the region.”

Tripura also responded sharply to recent remarks made by Pradyot Kishore Debbarma, who had claimed that there were no jails in the state built for him. Countering the statement, Tripura asserted that the state’s correctional facilities are adequately equipped to detain anyone found guilty under the law.
“The jails in Tripura are well-equipped to house any individual, provided the allegations against them are proven,” he said. “Once BJP comes to power in the ADC, a comprehensive audit of the TTAADC administration will be conducted. If corruption is established as per legal procedures, appropriate legal action will follow. Jail will be an inevitable outcome for those found involved in corrupt practices.”
The rally was organized as a joining programme, with several supporters reportedly switching allegiance to the BJP. BJP State General Secretary Bipin Debbarma also addressed the gathering. Speaking in Kokborok, Debbarma criticized TIPRA Motha and urged voters to extend overwhelming support to the BJP in the forthcoming ADC elections.

The political temperature in Tripura’s hill regions appears to be rising as parties gear up for what is expected to be a high-stakes electoral contest in the TTAADC. With strong rhetoric and promises of administrative audits, the BJP is positioning itself on an anti-corruption plank, while the opposition is preparing to counter the narrative in the run-up to the polls.
