UCO Bank Officers’ Association TMM holds first AGM in Agartala, discusses five-day banking demand, PLI concerns, policy reforms, and North-East economic growth in presence of Minister Tinku Roy and BMS leaders.
The UCO Bank Officers’ Association Tripura, Manipur and Mizoram (UCBOA TMM), affiliated to All India UCO Bank Officers’ Confederation, held its first Annual General Body Meeting (AGM) at Purbasha Ground in Agartala on Saturday. The significant gathering brought together banking professionals, trade union representatives, and senior officials to deliberate on pressing issues affecting the banking sector.
Tripura’s Youth Affairs and Sports, Social Welfare and Social Education, and Labour Minister Tinku Roy attended the meeting as the chief guest. Representatives of the Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS) and officers of UCO Bank posted across Tripura, Manipur, and Mizoram were also present, according to the organisers.
Prominent attendees included BMS Tripura Pradesh president Debashree Kalai, general secretary Tapan Kumar Dey, AIFUCBO (NOBO-BMS) president Chandramohan Singh, general secretary Akshay Kumar, and UCBOA TMM general secretary Arindam Chakraborty. UCO Bank Agartala Zone Zonal Manager Sanjeev Roy also addressed the gathering, highlighting the bank’s operational priorities and regional growth prospects.
The programme commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries, symbolising unity and collective commitment toward the welfare of banking professionals.
During the deliberations, speakers raised several critical issues concerning the banking industry. A major demand discussed at length was the implementation of a five-day banking week, a long-standing demand of bank officers across the country. Concerns were also voiced over the distribution of performance-linked incentives (PLI) among officers and executives, with association leaders urging for greater transparency and fairness in allocation.
Participants further discussed the evolving challenges faced by the banking sector, including rapid technological transformation, digital adaptation, and policy reforms necessary to strengthen financial institutions. Officers’ welfare, workplace conditions, and opportunities for professional development were also key points of discussion.
The AGM also underscored the strategic importance of the North-East region in India’s broader economic development. Speakers emphasized that strengthening banking infrastructure and human resource policies in the region would significantly contribute to financial inclusion and economic expansion.

The meeting concluded with a renewed call for enhanced coordination and collective representation among banking professionals in Tripura, Manipur, and Mizoram. Organisers stated that the association aims to play a proactive role in policy dialogue while safeguarding the professional interests and welfare of bank officers in the region.
