Two more accused arrested in the Prasenjit Sarkar delivery boy death case in North Tripura. Police intensify investigation, produce accused before Dharmanagar court, and assure justice amid rising public demand for accountability.

In the investigation into the tragic death of online delivery executive Prasenjit Sarkar, police have arrested two more accused, marking a major breakthrough in a case that has shaken North Tripura and sparked widespread public outrage.

The newly arrested individuals have been identified as Meghdeep Bhattacharjee and Piu Dhar. According to official sources, the duo had been absconding for several weeks before being traced and apprehended from the Panbazar area. Following their arrest, they were produced before the Dharmanagar District and Sessions Court, where legal proceedings are currently underway.

These arrests are part of the ongoing investigation linked to Case No. 122/2025, which concerns the alleged assault and subsequent death of Prasenjit Sarkar, an online delivery worker whose demise has raised serious concerns over worker safety and law and order in the region.

Earlier in the week, the North Tripura District Police had arrested three other accusedSushmita Bhattacharjee, Sangita Bhattacharjee, and Sourav Bhattacharjee—from the Karimganj district of Assam. After their detention, they were presented before the District Court, where police sought custodial remand to facilitate deeper interrogation and gather further evidence related to the case.

A senior police official described the recent arrests as a crucial milestone in the investigation. “The police are committed to ensuring that every individual involved in this crime is brought before the law. No one responsible will be spared,” the official stated, emphasizing the determination of law enforcement agencies to deliver justice.

Authorities have also appealed to residents of Dharmanagar and surrounding areas to maintain peace and refrain from spreading misinformation while the investigation continues. Police have urged citizens to cooperate fully, assuring transparency and fairness throughout the legal process.

The death of Prasenjit Sarkar has triggered strong public reaction across North Tripura, with civil society groups and local residents demanding swift justice and stricter measures to protect delivery workers, who often operate under vulnerable conditions. Candlelight marches, social media campaigns, and public statements have underscored the growing demand for accountability.

Police officials reiterated that they stand firmly with the people and remain focused on building a watertight case that can withstand judicial scrutiny. Investigators are currently examining call records, witness statements, and forensic evidence to establish the complete sequence of events leading to Sarkar’s death.

As the case progresses through the court system, authorities have assured that further arrests are possible if evidence points to additional involvement. The investigation remains active, and police have promised regular updates to keep the public informed.
