Tripura’s Durga Puja 2025 concluded peacefully, celebrating harmony and unity. CM Dr. Manik Saha praised citizens for their cooperation, lauded local artisans, and highlighted massive participation in the Maayer Gomon carnival attended by over 1.5 lakh people.
Tripura witnessed a grand and peaceful conclusion to this year’s Durga Puja celebrations, marking yet another year of unity and cultural harmony across the state. Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, while addressing the Sharad Samman 2025 ceremony organized by the Information and Cultural Affairs (ICA) Department at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan on Saturday, said that the people’s wholehearted cooperation and discipline ensured that the festivities remained joyous and incident-free.
Dr. Saha praised the collective spirit of Tripura’s citizens for transforming Durga Puja into a festival that transcends community and religion. “Durga Puja in Tripura is no longer confined to any single group; it has evolved into a grand celebration of unity among all communities, including our Janajati brothers and sisters,” he said.

Promoting Unity Through Culture
The Chief Minister highlighted that this year’s celebrations were particularly notable for their inclusive cultural participation. Artists from different states joined local performers, creating a rich blend of traditions that showcased India’s unity in diversity. He added that such collaborations not only enhance the state’s cultural landscape but also strengthen social harmony.
Dr. Saha also urged social and cultural clubs to dedicate themselves to constructive causes beyond festive celebrations. “Our clubs and social organizations must work toward building an addiction-free and crime-free society. True social responsibility begins with small, consistent actions that uplift communities,” he remarked.
‘Society and Government Are One’
Emphasizing the interdependence between citizens and the administration, Dr. Saha stated, “Society and government are not separate entities. A better and harmonious society can only be built when everyone contributes with sincerity and a sense of belonging.”
He reiterated the state government’s commitment to fostering peace and development through community engagement, cultural awareness, and empowerment of local artists.

Boost to Local Artisans and the ‘Vocal for Local’ Spirit
Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Vocal for Local initiative, the Chief Minister underlined the importance of supporting Tripura’s artists and artisans. “Local clubs and organizations play a crucial role in promoting our traditional crafts and cultural heritage. They must continue to showcase the talents of Tripura’s artisans,” he said.
Dr. Saha also called upon the ICA Department to organize workshops involving local artists in various creative fields, including idol-making, pandal decoration, and illumination design. Such initiatives, he noted, would help preserve local art forms while providing livelihood opportunities to young talents.
Massive Participation in ‘Maayer Gomon’ Carnival
Highlighting the grand success of the Maayer Gomon carnival that marked the conclusion of Durga Puja, Dr. Saha informed that over 1.5 lakh people attended the event physically, while nearly 1.6 lakh people watched it through media broadcasts. The carnival, celebrated as a farewell to Goddess Durga, turned into a spectacular display of devotion and artistry, symbolizing Tripura’s deep-rooted cultural unity.
Voices of Harmony and Gratitude
Tribal Welfare Minister Bikash Debbarma, who also attended the event, said that festivals like Durga Puja play a vital role in strengthening the bond between tribal and non-tribal communities. “Our unity is our greatest strength. Let us preserve this harmony and continue working together for Tripura’s progress,” he urged.

ICA Secretary Dr. Pradip Kumar Chakraborty, in his welcome address, expressed gratitude to citizens, organizers, and security personnel for ensuring the peaceful conduct of Durga Puja and the Maayer Gomon event. “This year’s peaceful celebrations once again prove that people of Tripura are committed to maintaining peace, brotherhood, and cultural pride,” he said.
The event was attended by several distinguished guests, including Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor and MLA Deepak Majumder, Tripura Cultural Advisory Committee Vice-Chairman Subrata Chakraborty, and ICA Director Bimbisar Bhattacharjee.
