Tripura CM Dr. Manik Saha thanked citizens, security forces, and clubs for ensuring a peaceful Durga Puja across the state. With over 2,700 idol immersions completed smoothly, the government prepares for Lakshmi Puja amid continued festive harmony.
As the grand festivities of Durga Puja came to a graceful close, Tripura is now gearing up to celebrate Lakshmi Puja with renewed enthusiasm on Sunday. The state’s capital, Agartala, and other districts witnessed a peaceful and disciplined celebration of Durga Puja this year, marking a collective success for the administration, the police, and local communities.
According to an official report from the Tripura Police, 2729 out of 2983 registered puja organizers across the state completed the immersion of idols by Saturday night. Among them, 706 organizers were from West Tripura district, including several large clubs in Agartala city. The remaining few immersions, including those in Teliamura and nearby regions, were conducted smoothly on Sunday under strict supervision.
Despite the large gatherings and heavy movement of pandal hoppers during the festival days, Durga Puja passed off without any major untoward incidents, thanks to the coordinated efforts of security personnel and civic authorities. The Chief Minister of Tripura, Dr. Manik Saha, expressed heartfelt gratitude towards all concerned — from law enforcement officers to festival organizers — for their exemplary conduct and cooperation that ensured a peaceful and joyous celebration across the state.
In a social media post, the Chief Minister commended the dedication of the Tripura Police, Fire and Emergency Services, Health Department, and local administrations for maintaining safety and order throughout the festival. He noted that their tireless efforts and prompt response in managing large crowds, traffic diversions, and public emergencies played a crucial role in the smooth conduct of the celebrations.
Dr. Saha wrote,
“During the Sharadiya Durga Puja days, the law and order, public safety, and various emergency services of the state worked together with complete dedication, ensuring that the festival was celebrated peacefully. I sincerely thank all the officers and staff involved. I also express my gratitude to the various clubs and puja organizing committees who demonstrated a sense of responsibility and maintained peace and discipline, making the festival joyful and successful.”
The Chief Minister’s message resonated widely among citizens, reflecting the government’s commitment to maintaining harmony during large-scale festivities. Public appreciation was also evident, particularly for the efficient traffic management and the visible police presence across Agartala city and nearby towns.
Although minor traffic congestions were reported on Carnival night — when decorative processions moved through central Agartala — authorities ensured swift regulation, allowing the events to conclude without any disruption. Visitors praised the city police for their patience and cooperative approach, which allowed families and visitors to move around comfortably.
Beyond security arrangements, civic workers and volunteers also played a significant role in waste management, illumination, and crowd regulation. The collaboration between local clubs and administration reflected a model of civic responsibility that other states can emulate.
The Chief Minister’s gesture of public acknowledgment not only celebrated the successful organization of Durga Puja but also reinforced the values of collective responsibility, discipline, and unity that define Tripura’s social fabric.

As the immersion rituals conclude and the idols of Goddess Durga bid farewell for another year, the festive spirit remains vibrant. Preparations for Lakshmi Puja, which marks the worship of the goddess of wealth and prosperity, are already underway in homes and temples across the state.
The peaceful completion of Durga Puja celebrations in Tripura stands as a testament to effective governance, civic cooperation, and communal harmony, highlighting how collaborative efforts between citizens and the state can ensure the success of grand cultural events. With Lakshmi Puja around the corner, Tripura continues to uphold its tradition of celebrating festivals with devotion, peace, and unity.
