Government e-Market (GEM) will be a digital procurement platform to local products in the future. Keeping this in mind the government launched GEM in 2019 to bring transparency in procurement. Digitization will be the only way for prosperity, transparency and development of the country in all fields. As a result, it is possible to easily complete audit in government offices said by Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varma while inaugurating a workshop on GEM at the Agartala Town Hall at the initiative of Finance Department. The workshop was attended by different level officials attached to GEM of Agartala Treasury-1, and Treasury-II of Jirania, Mohanpur.
In the workshop, Deputy Chief Minister also said that local traders, members of self-help groups, self-employed people will be able to promote their products in the national market through their inclusion in GEM. As a result, the goods produced in the state will be much easier to reach the national market. Therefore, Deputy Chief Minister urged the concerned department to take initiatives so that more and more local businessmen include their names in GEM. It may be noted that 540 businessmen of the state are now associated with GEM. Deputy Chief Minister also said that the current central and state governments give importance to the people’s ideas in the development plans for the common people because Prime Minister Narendra Modi believes that only a responsible government can play a responsible role in the development of people.
While delivering the welcome speech at the programme, Additional Secretary of Finance Department Akinchan Sarkar, said that various information technology based methods have been introduced in the last few years to bring transparency in the work of the department. Department Secretary Brijesh Pandey, GEM Nodal Officer Amardeep Gupta, Treasury Officer Harshita Biswas were present at the programme. In the second phase, technical sessions were held with all the participants and attendance was remarkable at the workshop.
