Stolen, starring Abhishek Banerjee and directed by Karan Tejpal, is India’s gripping new thriller blending emotion and suspense. Premiering June 4 on Prime Video, it explores raw storytelling and survival in a high-stakes search for a missing child.

The upcoming thriller Stolen has taken a bold step into the limelight with the release of its intense and gripping trailer. Starring Abhishek Banerjee, Shubham Vardhan, and Mia Maelzer, and directed by debutant Karan Tejpal, Stolen promises to deliver a raw cinematic experience that blends emotion, suspense, and survival. Slated for release on June 4 on Prime Video, the film has already garnered attention for its powerful storytelling and gritty realism.

Speaking about the film, lead actor Abhishek Banerjee described Stolen as “India’s answer to raw, genre-driven filmmaking.” He shared, “The day I heard the story, I knew I wanted to be in the driver’s seat—just like my character, Gautam. Karan Tejpal, our director, is one of the freshest, most exciting minds I’ve come across. He’s here to stay, and I can’t wait for the world to see what he’s capable of.”

Banerjee also praised producer Gaurav Dhingra, calling him “passionate to the core about good filmmaking,” and emphasized the need for more such producers in the Indian film industry.

The trailer opens with a devastating scene: a mother, Jhumpa (played by Mia Maelzer), wakes at a desolate railway station to discover that her baby has been snatched from her arms. This moment sets in motion a relentless search, as two brothers—Gautam (Banerjee) and Raman (Shubham Vardhan)—join her in a desperate hunt for the missing child.

Set in the remote and rugged heartlands of India, Stolen follows the trio as they navigate hostile terrain and face increasing threats from local adversaries. What begins as a mission to recover a stolen child transforms into a harrowing battle for survival. The film captures not just the tension of the chase, but also the emotional toll it exacts on its characters.

Directed and co-written by Karan Tejpal, along with Gaurav Dhingra and Swapnil Salkar (Agadbumb), Stolen is backed by an impressive team of executive producers including Anurag Kashyap, Kiran Rao, Nikkhil Advani, and Vikramaditya Motwane. The film is a Jungle Book Studio production and features supporting performances by Harish Khanna and Sahidur Rahaman.

Director Karan Tejpal shared his vision for the film: “With Stolen, I set out to tell a raw and honest story about two starkly different worlds that collide in unexpected ways. On the surface, Stolen unfolds as a taut action thriller — but its emotional impact builds quietly, lingering long after the final frame.”

He praised his cast for bringing the story to life against a stark, unforgiving landscape. “Abhishek, Mia, and Shubham delivered performances that brought authenticity and emotional depth to the film,” he added. Tejpal also noted the overwhelming response Stolen received at international film festivals, calling it “both humbling and inspiring.”

Actress Mia Maelzer, who plays Jhumpa, described the film as a transformative experience. “Karan Tejpal’s sensitivity as a director created a space where authenticity could truly flourish. Portraying Jhumpa meant delving into a character layered with complexity and emotional depth, a challenge that pushed my boundaries.”

Shubham Vardhan, who plays Raman, reflected on his experience with the script. “When I first read the script of Stolen, I couldn’t shake it off. Playing Raman challenged me quietly and steadily. There’s a deep emotional current running through him, and portraying that was incredibly rewarding.”

As Stolen prepares for its exclusive premiere on Prime Video, anticipation is high for a film that not only thrills but also resonates with deep emotional truth. With a strong ensemble, an emerging director’s bold vision, and the support of some of Indian cinema’s top creative minds, Stolen could very well mark a turning point in genre-driven Indian filmmaking.
