Tripura’s School Education Department has launched a special inspection drive across the state to review government schools, teaching-learning practices, student attendance and education programmes, while assessing technology-enabled initiatives such as NIPUN Tripura, Vidya Setu and virtual classrooms.
The School Education Department has launched a special inspection drive across Tripura to assess the ground-level implementation of educational programmes, teaching-learning practices and the overall functioning of government schools.
As part of the initiative, a departmental team visited several schools in Mandai block on Wednesday and reviewed classroom activities, student attendance, the learning environment and the implementation of various education programmes. The inspection is intended to provide senior officials with a direct assessment of the situation at the school level.
During the visits, officials closely examined teaching-learning practices and reviewed the progress of programmes such as Vidya Setu, NIPUN Tripura and pre-primary education activities. The team interacted with teachers and observed students’ participation in classroom activities, their learning progress and the overall academic environment.
The inspection team also visited the District Education Officer’s office in West Tripura and the Sadar Inspectorate. Discussions with officials focused on school inspections, implementation of educational programmes, student learning outcomes and administrative matters affecting the functioning of schools.
Technology-enabled education initiatives were also reviewed during the inspection drive. Officials visited the campuses associated with Vande Tripura, PM e-Vidya Tripura and the Tele-Education Project under the School Education Department. The team assessed educational content production, broadcasting facilities and other technology-based learning arrangements.
The department is particularly focusing on the role of digital education in extending learning opportunities to students living in remote and rural areas. Officials examined whether technology-based initiatives are functioning effectively and reaching their intended beneficiaries.
Another major focus of the inspection was the Interactive Virtual Classroom Project being implemented through GUMBI Software. The system is currently operational in 240 government schools spread across all eight districts of Tripura. It enables live, interactive and analytics-based virtual classes from a studio in Agartala.
According to the department, the two-way virtual classroom system has been designed to improve access to quality education, particularly for students in remote and rural locations. Through interactive digital classrooms, students can participate in live lessons while benefiting from centrally produced educational content and technology-supported teaching.
The ongoing inspection drive is also expected to help the department identify gaps in teaching, learning, infrastructure, programme implementation and school administration. Direct interaction with teachers and observation of classroom activities will provide officials with a clearer understanding of challenges faced at the grassroots level.

The School Education Department said the inspections will continue in the coming days. The exercise is aimed at strengthening the learning environment in government schools, improving the implementation of educational programmes and ensuring that students across Tripura receive meaningful and effective learning opportunities.
