A group of miscreants having allegiance to the TIPRA Motha attacked Tribal Welfare Minister Rampada Jamatia and BJP Janajati woman leader Patal Kanya Jamatia on Thursday at Jampuijala. Their vehicles were damaged and the two leaders had to be rescued by Tripura State Rifles from the murderous band of TIPRA Motha miscreants who were shouting the name of their leaders Pradyot Kishore Debbarma.
In the attack both the minister Rampada Jamatia , BJP leader Patal Kanya Jamtia, her PSO were injured among others,. The vehicles of Patal Kanya Jamatia and Rampada Jamatia were damaged in stone-pelting. The miscreants also raised the ‘Go back Patal Kanya’ slogan
Two days ago, an almost similar incident occurred in which miscreants attempted to block a road in Taidu under Gomati district to prevent BJP leaders including MP Rebati Tripura, Minister Rampada Jamatia, Patal Kanya and others.
The incident occurred while the BJP leaders along with others were going to attend a party programme – as their vehicles reached the Headquarters of the 7th Bn TSR, alleged Tipra Motha started shouting slogans and resorted to heavy stone-pelting.
The security personnel swung into action and tried to contain the aggressive goons. Meantime, reinforcement reached along with a large posse of TSR jawans – however, by that time, vehicles were damaged and leaders sustained injuries.
“Our vehicles were damaged and bodyguards of both of us were injured. We managed to save our lives by taking shelter in the TSR camp. The miscreants also used catapults besides throwing bricks and stones to attack us”, Rampada Jamatia told the media. The Minister also alleged Tipra Motha supporters were behind the attack.
Commenting on the incident in a social media post, Patal Kanya Jamatia alleged Tipra Motha supporters launched a barbaric attack on her with an intention of attempting to kill her – however, she narrowly escaped, Patal Kanya wrote.
“The Car of Hon’ble Tribal welfare Minister Shri Rampada Jamatia were ransacked risking his life. My PG, Vice president Janajati Murcha and vice President Sadar division and many others BJP Co workers’ were injured”, she wrote in her FB post.
This is (a) heinous Crime instigated by Pradyot himself and shall not be forgiven Law will take its course. The act of criminal will be brought to justice”, she added.
The Minister informed Director-General of Police VS Yadav and Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha about the incident immediately.
Apart from the leaders, Tipra Motha activists also reportedly assaulted BJP supporters who were coming to attend the programme in which the Janajati Minister and others were scheduled to participate. It was alleged Tipra Motha supporters forcibly brought down BJP supporters from a vehicle that was coming from Ujan Pathalighat and was heading to the programme venue. In the attack, at least 12 persons including five Janajati women were injured. Police rushed to the spot and rescued the victims.
Patal Kanya lodged a formal complaint with Takarjala PS against 12 persons.
