Lok Sabha MP Rebati Tripura came down heavily on TIPRA Motha chief Pradyot Kishore Debbarman and accused him of conspiring riots in Tripura to meet his political ambition.

Although there were talks and strong suspicions among many and in political circles about the intention behind the aggressive overtures of Pradyot Kishore based on some absurd demand of Greater Tipraland, this was , however, for the first time someone responsible came out with an open accusation .

Rebati Tripura’s explicit and expressed statement was : ‘Pradyot Kishore Debbarman is trying to trigger riot in Tripura’. This was stated in a press conference.

Then the MP  added  that Pradyot was trying to instigate riot ‘not only between Bengalis and tribal (Janajatis) but also among the tribal communities’.

In fact, the MP minced no words as he held as press conference went full guns in the wake of attack on minister Rampada Jamatia and BJP state president Patal Kanya Jamatia at Jampuijala on Thursday.

While the issue relating to the tribal-nontribal questions could very well be understood, it was not, however, yet clear as to how the MP could reach the conclusions that Pradyot Kishore’s activities would also spark off riots among the tribal communities.

Nevertheless, there were many who pointed out that Rebati Tripura’s statement came in the wake of attacks committed upon two Jamatia community leaders –minister Rampada Jamatia and BJP leader Patal Kanya Jamatia by the TIPRA Motha miscreants.

It may also be mentioned that Rebati Tripura is also a strong votary of separate ‘Tripuri Customary Laws’ – which in other words would mean separation of Tripuri and Debbarma communities – so far clubbed together- as two distinct identities.

The allegations that Pradyot Kishore was instigating his followers for riots came evidently due to the way Pradyot Kishore was swaying the sentiments of the indigenous people in the name of Greater tipraland demand. Pradyot Kishore was saying that the settlement for the demand could be achieved through Constitutional means, though it was not yet clear as to how Indian Constitution could settle the demand of inclusion of Tripura tribal inhabited Bangladesh territory into Greater Tipraland without a full-scale war. The TIPRA motha supremo cleverly glosses over the questions and was playing with the emotions.

Not only Tripura maintained that Prodyot Kishore was hell bent to trigger riot but also castigated him of being a leader without any control over his foot soldiers in the TIPRA Motha.

“He (Pradyot Kishore) is responsible for the attack on Rampada Jamatia and Patal Kanya Jamatia. He had instigated the assault”.

“He is trying to create riot in the state,” the MP said in a press conference at BJP state office.

Tripura said,  the Tipra Motha chief has no control over the party workers.

The Tipra Motha Supremo had assured the people before and after the ADC polls that he would take action against the party workers if they indulge in any anti-party activity but for vain. He failed miserably and the Tipra motha workers were running amok without giving any heed to what he said.

He also alleged that the TTAADC administration had failed to meet the aspiration of the people. No work has been done by the present TTAADC administration for the welfare of Janajati people, he said.

“He (Pradyot) now says about the last fight in 2023. If he wants to do something for the Janajati people, there is nothing like the last fight. We have to work for society till our last breath. But as he says about the ‘last fight’ in 2023, it indicates that he wants to create a riot and something like that and come to power by 2023,” the MP told reporters.
