The Opposition CPM held its state committee meeting on Monday where matters relating to organizational strategy and revival before the ensuing assembly elections were discussed in threadbare. The party also dwelt extensively on its present political condition in the tribal areas from where it once had emerged as a formidable force but, of late, faced a steady and serious erosion of base.

The CPM also discussed the present political scenario under the BJP-IPFT rule as well as the opportunities that might be explored in the wake of Biplab Kumar Deb’s resignation and resultant confusion among the ruling party workers.

The meeting held at Dasharath Deb Smriti Bhavan on Monday was supposed to be attended by  Politburo member Prakash Karat. But as the flight from Delhi got cancelled he could not make it to the meeting.

Briefing the media on this, CPI-M State secretary Jitendra Choudhury said, ‘after the 23rd state Conference, the second state committee meeting has been convened on Monday. It is the 1st meeting after the party’s 23rd Congress held in April last in Kerala”.

He said it was a crucial meeting that had been organized after two months. Discussion on various important topics including the political situation of the state at present, organisational strategies prior 2023 assembly election were the topics.

Former Chief Minister and Ploitburo member Manik Sarkar, state committee members like Pabitra Kar, Rama Das, Manik Dey, Jharna Das Baidya, Nabarun Deb, Ratan Bhowmik, Aghore Debbarma, Bhanulal Saha, Sahid Choudhury, Amal Chakraborty and many other CPI-M leaders attended the day’s conference.
