After much dilly-dallying and speculations the Trinamool Congress (TMC) has ultimately formed its full fledged State Committee on Friday- with Subal Bhowmik as president and Rajib Banerjee from West Bengal as ‘in charge’.
The new committee was formed by TMC supremo Mamata Bannerjee as there was a visible erosion of whatever foothold the party could manage to gain before the Urban Local Bodies elections.
The TMC state committee has also included a six-member core committee with MP Sushmita Dev, president Subal Bhowmik, Ashish Das, Bhriguram Reang, Ashish Lal Singh and Mamon Khan.
There are eight vice presidents with former MLA Prakash Das, Md Idrish Miah, Tridip Datta, Abdul Basit Khan, Tapas Khisa, Krishnadhan Nath, Kalpamohan Tripura and Pijush Kanti Debroy.
There are five general secretaries : Tapash Roy, Nirmal Kanti Das, Baptu Chakrabarty, Rabi Choudhury and Tapan Datta. They will be supported by 14 secretaries and seven joint secretaries. The Tripura TMC will have 72 executive members.
Panna Deb has been made the president of TMC Mahila unit with Sampa Das, Sanhita Banerjee, Dipti Halam, Anita Das, Alpana Debbarma and Archana Kar as vice presidents.
The youth front will be headed by Santanu Saha as president and four other vice presidents- Nilkamal Saha, Anirban Sarkar, Dipannita Chakrabarty, Rakesh Das and Uttam Koloi.
Sanjoy Kumar Das has been made president of the TMC state SC cell with vice president Dulal Sarkar . The ST cell will be headed by Malin Jamatia who will be assisted by two vice presidents Binay Reang and Lalit Mohan Chakma.
The TMC leaders are hopeful that the much-awaited state committee would be able to revive the party activities in the state before the ensuing by polls in the five constituencies. The TMC aims at fielding candidates in all the seats.
Sources have indicated that this time also TMC state unit- despite being a full fledged and independent unit will have to heavily depend on the West Bengal leaders like the ULB elections time. However, it is not yet clear in view of the pulls and pressures that the party is facing in West Bengal itself for the last few days how many outside leaders will be able to make it to Tripura, and for how many times.
The TMC has lost the wind from its hype ridden sail considerably and it will be tough task for Subal Bhowmik to revive the remnants of the party in Tripura again. But being a good organizer and a hard working leader he will try his best to make the party’s presence felt.
