In the aftermath of the BJP’s landslide victory in the recently concluded elections, Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman expressed optimism on Thursday, asserting that the opposition I.N.D.I.A. bloc would bounce back with favourable results.

During his visit to North Tripura’s Dharmangar, Roy Barman conducted a meeting with party leaders and workers at the Dharmanagar Circuit House, accompanied by Dharmanagar MLA Chayan Bhattacharjee, Congress leader Abdul Bachit Chowdhury, and others.

Addressing reporters at the meeting, Roy Barman acknowledged the Congress’s loss in three states but highlighted a positive note, stating, “It is a good sign that the total number of votes polled by the party in the recently concluded elections was higher than that of the BJP.” He further noted that in over sixty seats, Congress faced defeat by a three-digit margin.

“In over sixty seats, the Congress party experienced defeat by a three-digit margin,” Barman noted. He also explained that in Mizoram, Congress votes shifted to the new party in power, contributing to the party’s setback in terms of results.

Despite these challenges, Barman emphasised that his ongoing visits to various districts ahead of the Lok Sabha elections are aimed at strengthening the Congress organizationally. Expressing hope for the I.N.D.I.A. bloc’s success in the upcoming national elections, he remains optimistic about the bloc’s potential to capture power at the centre.

Following the meeting in Dharmangar, the Congress MLA continued his organisational efforts by presiding over a similar meeting in Kumarghat, underscoring the party’s commitment to regaining momentum and influencing the political landscape.
