Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha warns of strict action against troublemakers, emphasizes unity, janajati welfare, cultural preservation, and inclusive development while addressing the Chorei Khambar Festival in North Tripura.

Chief Minister of Tripura, Dr. Manik Saha, on Tuesday issued a strong warning against troublemakers, stating that the use of force may become necessary to maintain peace and harmony in the state. Addressing a large public gathering at the ‘Chorei Khambar – 2026’ festival in Narendra Nagar under Damcherra subdivision of North Tripura district, the Chief Minister stressed unity, inclusive development, and cultural preservation.

Dr. Saha asserted that the state government would not tolerate activities that disturb social harmony. “To ensure peace and stability in Tripura, troublemakers must be brought onto the right path. If required, force may be used to protect the larger interest of society,” he said, while underlining the government’s commitment to law and order.

Highlighting the vision of a “New Tripura,” the Chief Minister said the state is steadily moving towards becoming a model state in the country. He emphasized that unity among people from all sections of society is the strongest foundation for development.

“We belong to different regions and communities, but our identity must be united,” Dr. Saha said. “When we go outside India, we are known as Indians. When we go outside Tripura, we are identified as Tripuris. This collective identity should guide us. There should be no division among us. Only by standing together can we take Tripura to the peak of development.”

Focus on Janajati Welfare and Cultural Preservation

Dr. Saha highlighted the significant initiatives undertaken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the welfare of janajati communities across the country. He stated that the current central leadership has brought unprecedented recognition and respect to indigenous communities.

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken historic steps to honor janajati communities. For the first time, a woman from the tribal community has become the President of India. From 2019 to 2024, several Padma Shri awards were conferred upon janajati personalities for their contributions in diverse fields,” the Chief Minister said.

He further noted that after the present state government came to power, the honorarium for janajati community leaders was increased from Rs. 2,000 to Rs. 5,000. In addition, the government has decided to extend honorarium to the heads of janajati sub-groups, recognizing their role in social service and community leadership.

“These leaders work at the grassroots level for society. Supporting them is essential for strengthening social harmony and development,” Dr. Saha added.

Strengthening Governance and Scheme Implementation

The Chief Minister also spoke about administrative reforms aimed at effective implementation of welfare schemes. He said that officers equivalent to Tripura Civil Service (TCS) ranks have been appointed at district and subdivision levels to ensure transparency and accountability.

“The central and state governments are jointly implementing multiple schemes for the overall development of janajati communities. Our focus is not only economic growth but also the protection of culture, values, and traditions,” Dr. Saha said. “These traditions define our identity and must be preserved for future generations.”

Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas in Action

Reiterating the guiding principles of Prime Minister Modi, Dr. Saha said the Tripura government is firmly committed to “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Prayas, and Sabka Vishwas.”

“We must move forward together. Unity is our greatest strength. Only collective effort can ensure sustainable development and long-term peace,” he said.

Celebration of Chorei Khambar Festival

The Chief Minister expressed his delight at attending the Chorei Khambar Festival held at Phaikhuo Ground in Narendra Nagar. Celebrated annually, the festival holds deep cultural significance for the Chorei community and reflects the rich heritage and identity of indigenous people in the region.
