The Swarnim Vijay Mashaal – which was flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to commemorate Golden Jubilee of Indian Armed Forces’ victory in 1971 Indo-Pak War from National War Memorial in New Delhi on December 16, 2020 reaches Agartala Military Station on Friday morning. Students of the Don Bosco School along with the jawans of 57 Mountain Artillery Brigade of Indian Army received the Flame at Don Bosco School.
Later, Olympian Dipa Karmakar received the flame at Chandmari headquarters of Army.
Commemorative events will be celebrated at Rabindra Bhawan in Agartala following a Vijay Prarikrama tomorrow.
The event would be attended by Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb, Maj. Gen Navin Sachdeva, General Officer Commanding 57 Mountain Division and Brig Nilesh Chowdhary, Commander 57 Mountain Artillery Brigade amongst other dignitaries.
Mashaal will stay in Agartala till 08 November 2021.
Wreath laying to honour “The War Heros” will be done by Satyadeo Narain Arya Governor of Tripura tomorrow at Albert Ekka War Memorial alongwith other civil and military dignitaries. The Swarnim Vijay Mashaal will be brought to Rabindra Bhawan following a ‘Vijay Prarikrama’ around prominent places in the city by afternoon on the same day. The event at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhawan will feature various cultural events, combined forces band display, 1971 war gallery and military equipment display. The Veer Naris and Veterans of 1971 war will be felicitated by the Chief Guest Biplab Kumar Deb. During it’s stay in Agartala, the Swarnim Vijay Mashaal will be duly honored by the 21 Assam Rifles, the BSF, the CRPF and Police Headquarters.
Four victory’ flames lit from the eternal flame at National War Memorial were carried throughout the cities and villages across the nation including native places of Param Vir Chakra (PVC) and Maha Vir Chakra (MVC) awardees of 1971 A War.
Agartala was the hub of strategic planning for the liberation war. Pakistan forces had set Agartala as the target. It was the valiant act of Lance Naik Albert Ekka PVC (Posthumous) and his men that Agartala was saved. The fearless and spirited people of Agartala worked as fighters, provided inputs about enemy location and were helping the Indian forces during those testing time
The people of Agartala provided all necessary help and assistance to the displaced brethren from the then East Pakistan.
