Two brothers were killed and another seriously injured in a violent land dispute-related clash at Phultali village in Tripura’s Unakoti district. The incident involved brothers Mayur Chandra Sinha and Niladwaj Sinha. Police, forensic experts, and TSR personnel launched an investigation to determine the sequence of events.

A long-standing land and property dispute turned fatal in Tripura’s Unakoti district after two brothers lost their lives and another family member sustained serious injuries during a violent altercation at Phultali village under Kailashahar Police Station on Friday night.

The deceased have been identified as Mayur Chandra Sinha, a mason by profession, and his younger brother Niladwaj Sinha, a retired Army personnel. According to local residents, the brothers had been embroiled in a dispute over ancestral land and property for several years, with tensions reportedly escalating in recent months.

Sources said the incident occurred late on Friday night when Niladwaj Sinha allegedly visited the residence of his elder brother Mayur Chandra Sinha. An argument reportedly broke out between the two over unresolved property-related issues, leading to a violent confrontation.

Phultali Gram Panchayat Pradhan Mridul Sinha stated that Mayur Chandra Sinha’s wife and son were present inside the house when the altercation took place. During the heated exchange, Niladwaj allegedly attacked members of the family with a sharp weapon.

Mayur Chandra Sinha’s son sustained severe injuries while attempting to intervene and prevent the attack. The injured youth suffered multiple wounds and was immediately rushed to the hospital for treatment.

As the violence intensified, Mayur Chandra Sinha reportedly suffered fatal injuries and collapsed on the spot. In a dramatic and mysterious turn of events, Niladwaj Sinha was later found lying in a pool of blood beside his elder brother’s body.

Police officials confirmed that both brothers died at the scene before medical assistance could reach them. The exact circumstances that led to the death of Niladwaj Sinha remain unclear, prompting authorities to launch a detailed investigation.

Upon receiving information about the incident, a police team led by officer Janua Halam, accompanied by personnel from the Tripura State Rifles (TSR), rushed to the village and secured the area to prevent further unrest.

Senior police officials, including Unakoti District Superintendent of Police Sudhambika R, visited the crime scene and interacted with family members and local residents to gather information regarding the incident.

A forensic team was also deployed to examine the scene and collect evidence that could help investigators reconstruct the sequence of events. Following preliminary examination, the bodies were sent to Unakoti District Hospital for post-mortem examination.

Meanwhile, the injured son of Mayur Chandra Sinha remains under medical treatment at the district hospital. Police personnel have been deployed at the healthcare facility as a precautionary measure to avoid any untoward incidents.

Investigators are currently examining witness statements, forensic findings, and other evidence to determine how both brothers died and whether any additional individuals were involved in the clash.

Police have stated that no arrests have been made so far. The investigation is continuing, and authorities are expected to release further details once the post-mortem reports and forensic analysis are completed.
