Bhavan’s Tripura Vidya Mandir has inaugurated Tripura’s first school-based Tech Innovation Lab, marking a major step in experiential and skill-based education. Equipped with advanced technology platforms, the lab aims to enhance creativity, innovation, problem-solving skills and practical learning, preparing students for future technological challenges.
In a landmark initiative aimed at blending technology with education, Bhavan’s Tripura Vidya Mandir has inaugurated its Tech Innovation Lab, the first skill development laboratory of its kind in any school in Tripura. The state-of-the-art facility was inaugurated in the presence of distinguished guests, parents, students, teachers and media representatives, marking a significant milestone in the field of school education in the state.
It may be mentioned that the school had in last December also become the first school of the state to introduce sophisticated telescope for the students so that they could enjoy the starry sky and explore the cosmic world high above.
The newly established lab, equipped with modern learning tools including immersive technology-based platforms, has been dedicated to the memory of K.V. Gopalakrishnan, the founder director of Bhavan’s Agartala, who established the institution in 1996 with a vision of providing quality and value-based education.

Welcoming the dignitaries and guests, Principal Swapna Shome highlighted the importance of the new facility and explained the objectives behind setting up the Tech Innovation Lab. She said the initiative would provide students with opportunities to develop practical skills, creativity, problem-solving abilities and technological understanding beyond traditional classroom learning.
She also acknowledged the support and contribution of Metabook organisation in making the innovative project a reality and helping students gain exposure to emerging technologies.
Presiding over the inauguration ceremony, Chairman of Bhavan’s Tripura Vidya Mandir, D. Beashish Chakraborty, spoke about the institution’s commitment to following the core philosophy of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan — imparting education that focuses on the complete development of an individual.
He said Bhavan’s has always believed that education should not be limited to academic excellence alone but should prepare students to become responsible, capable and ethical citizens. The establishment of the Tech Innovation Lab, he said, was another pioneering step towards achieving the goal of holistic education by integrating science, technology, creativity and practical learning.

“The objective is to nurture young minds and prepare them for the challenges of the future while maintaining the values and principles of education,” he said.
Chakrabarty, a former IFS Officer, said that following Governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu’s suggestion for empowerment of girls the teachers and administrative officials of the school distributed bi-cycles to the girl students.
The inauguration generated immense enthusiasm among students, who actively explored the facilities and experienced the technology-driven learning environment. The presence of students engaging with the advanced equipment reflected the growing interest of the younger generation towards innovation and skill-based education.
Parents and guests appreciated the initiative, describing it as a progressive move that would provide students of Tripura with opportunities to learn and experiment with modern technologies at an early stage.
