In a crackdown on drug trafficking, authorities in Karimganj, Assam, intercepted a Tripura-bound vehicle near the Lamajua area along the Karimganj-Silchar highway.
The routine operation led to the discovery of a staggering 2.20 lakh Yaba tablets concealed within the vehicle. The market value of the seized narcotics is estimated to be approximately Rs. 66 crore.
The three individuals apprehended in connection with this illicit cargo have been identified as Khairul Hossain, Nabir Hossain, and Maman Miah, all hailing from Melaghar in Tripura. They were promptly arrested under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act following their capture.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the vehicle originated from Mizoram, raising concerns about a potential narcotics trafficking network operating across state borders.
