The BJP has intensified its tribal outreach in Tripura ahead of TTAADC elections. Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha welcomed 610 voters from 200 families into the party at Killa Bazar, highlighting BJP’s vision of peace, unity, and development, while accusing CPI(M) and Congress of decades-long exploitation of Janajati people.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has ramped up its outreach efforts among tribal communities in Tripura as the state heads toward the crucial elections to the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC). On Tuesday, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha welcomed over 610 voters from 200 families into the BJP fold during a mass joining programme held at Killa Bazar in Gomati district.
The large-scale induction is being seen as part of the BJP’s broader strategy to strengthen its base among Janajati people, who form a significant portion of the electorate in the TTAADC. Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Saha said that the overwhelming response of the Janajati population reflected their growing trust in the BJP’s vision of peace, unity, and development.
BJP’s Promise of Development and Peace
Dr. Saha strongly criticized the previous governments led by CPI(M) and Congress, accusing them of treating tribal communities merely as vote banks without ensuring their real development. He argued that for decades, both parties promoted division, violence, and underdevelopment in the state.
“The CPM gave birth to terrorism, but the BJP has brought peace to Tripura. For 35 years, the Left and Congress encouraged violence, arson, and atrocities. They never worked for tribal welfare but only misled them. Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the focus has been given on Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas—development for all,” Saha asserted.
The Chief Minister noted that the joining of Janajati voters at this juncture clearly indicates a shift in political dynamics. “This is not just about joining a party, but about joining a movement for peace and progress. People have realized that only the BJP can deliver on its promises,” he said.
Commitment Amid Challenges
Referring to recent attacks on BJP workers during the “Mann Ki Baat” programme in Asharambari, Khowai district, Dr. Saha condemned the violence but reaffirmed his party’s commitment to its workers. “We are ready to sacrifice everything for the country. Whenever our karyakartas are attacked, the party stands firmly with them,” he emphasized.
Saha lauded the dedication of BJP workers, who, according to him, have continued to work for the welfare of the people despite facing hostility and opposition in some pockets of the state.
Transformation of the Northeast Under Modi’s Leadership
Highlighting the progress achieved in the last decade, Dr. Saha drew attention to the transformation of Tripura and the entire Northeast region under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership since 2014.
“Earlier, insurgency and unrest plagued the region, but today Tripura is witnessing peace, better connectivity, and progress under the ‘HIRA model’ of development. Roads, railways, airways, and waterways have improved connectivity, bringing prosperity to the region,” he explained.
The “HIRA model” — symbolizing Highways, Internet, Railways, and Airways — has been one of the BJP’s flagship narratives for showcasing infrastructural development in Tripura and other northeastern states.
Presence of Senior Leaders
The Killa Bazar joining event was attended by several senior BJP leaders, including State General Secretary Bipin Debbarma, local MLA Rampada Jamatia, and Bagma Mandal president Amar Jamatia, among others. Their presence underscored the importance of the event in the party’s electoral roadmap for the upcoming TTAADC polls.
The enthusiasm and participation of the local Janajati population during the programme were described as highly encouraging for the BJP leadership. Many new members expressed optimism about the future under BJP governance, citing improved law and order, infrastructure development, and welfare measures as key reasons for their decision to join.
BJP Eyes TTAADC Polls with Tribal Support
The induction of 200 tribal families comes at a strategic time, with the TTAADC elections expected to play a decisive role in shaping Tripura’s political landscape. By expanding its support base among Janajati voters, the BJP aims to consolidate its influence in tribal regions traditionally dominated by regional outfits and the Left.

The BJP leadership is confident that the combination of Modi’s development model, Saha’s local leadership, and continued outreach will help the party make significant inroads in the upcoming polls.
As the political climate heats up ahead of the elections, all eyes will be on how tribal communities, once considered strongholds of opposition parties, respond to the BJP’s sustained efforts at outreach and integration.
