Tripura has launched an online school monitoring system to track foundational literacy and numeracy (FLN) outcomes, strengthen school inspections, and improve learning quality. The digital platform enables real-time monitoring, student assessments, and accountability across primary and secondary schools, supporting the state’s efforts to enhance educational performance.
In a major step towards strengthening the quality of education and improving student learning outcomes, the Tripura government has launched an online school monitoring system aimed at tracking foundational literacy and numeracy (FLN) achievements and enhancing oversight of schools across the state.
The initiative was officially launched on Wednesday, a day after a high-level review meeting on education chaired by the Chief Minister. The meeting focused on strengthening foundational learning among students and improving monitoring mechanisms within the school education sector.
Speaking at a workshop organised by the NIPUN Tripura Cell and the Pre-Primary Cell under the Directorate of Elementary Education, School Education Secretary Dr. Milind Dharamrao Ramteke highlighted the importance of regular inspections and data-driven monitoring to ensure quality education for children.
According to Dr. Ramteke, Block Resource Persons (BRPs) and Cluster Resource Persons (CRPs) will play a crucial role in implementing the system. They will be responsible for conducting regular inspections of primary schools and monitoring the academic progress of students studying in Classes I to V.
Under the new framework, BRPs and CRPs will be required to visit schools under their jurisdiction at least once every fifteen days. Inspection reports will be uploaded through the online platform, allowing district and state-level authorities to monitor school performance in real time. The digital system is expected to facilitate timely interventions and corrective measures wherever learning gaps are identified.
The School Education Secretary stated that the platform will enable continuous tracking of foundational literacy and numeracy outcomes, which are considered critical indicators of students’ academic development during the early years of education.
For students in Classes VI to X, Inspectors of Schools will oversee the inspection process and evaluate learning levels through surprise visits and spot assessments. The department believes that regular monitoring and independent evaluations will help improve academic standards and ensure greater accountability among educational institutions.
Officials also informed that teachers will conduct student assessments through the online platform. The collected data will be reviewed periodically by the education department to assess learning outcomes and identify areas requiring improvement. Teachers whose students demonstrate notable academic progress may also receive recognition for their efforts.
Director of Elementary Education Harshita Biswas emphasized that the department is committed to improving educational quality throughout the state. She urged inspectors, BRPs, CRPs, and teachers to work collaboratively to ensure the overall learning development of students.
Biswas further stated that accountability would be established among all stakeholders involved in the education system, ensuring effective implementation of the monitoring process.
The workshop was attended by officials from the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), inspectors of schools from both state-run institutions and the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC), along with BRPs and CRPs representing all eight districts of the state.

As part of the rollout, participants received hands-on training in two phases on the operation of the online monitoring platform. The training was conducted by officials associated with the Vidya Samiksha Kendra, which manages and operates the system.
Officials said the education department plans to introduce additional measures in the coming months to further strengthen foundational education and improve learning outcomes across Tripura, reinforcing the state’s commitment to educational excellence and student success.
