Tripura launches Women Entrepreneurship Policy 2025–2030 to empower women entrepreneurs with subsidies, digital support, and market access. The initiative aims to boost women-led businesses, strengthen self-reliance, and accelerate inclusive economic growth across the state.
In a step toward strengthening women’s economic participation, the Government of Tripura on Thursday launched the Tripura Women Entrepreneurship Policy 2025–2030, a comprehensive initiative designed to empower women entrepreneurs and accelerate inclusive economic development across the state.
The policy was formally unveiled during a state-level programme held at Pragna Bhavan in Agartala. The event was inaugurated by Industries and Commerce Minister Santana Chakma, who described the initiative as a “milestone in Tripura’s development journey.”
Building a Strong Ecosystem for Women Entrepreneurs
The Women Entrepreneurship Policy 2025–2030 aims to create a supportive and enabling ecosystem for women-led enterprises, particularly in small, micro, and cottage industries. The government plans to connect women entrepreneurs with modern technology, improved market access, institutional support, and skill development opportunities.
Officials stated that the policy focuses on strengthening the entrepreneurial capacity of women across rural and urban regions. Through structured financial assistance and training programmes, the initiative seeks to transform innovative ideas into sustainable businesses.
Financial Incentives and Subsidy Support
One of the key highlights of the policy is the introduction of attractive financial incentives designed to encourage women to start and expand businesses. Under the Tripura Industrial Investment Promotion Incentive Scheme (TIPIS), eligible women entrepreneurs will receive capital investment subsidies ranging from 30 to 40 percent.
Additionally, the Swabalamban scheme offers project cost subsidies of up to 35 percent, making it easier for women to launch new ventures and scale existing businesses. The government has also introduced interest concessions on working capital loans, helping reduce financial burdens for women entrepreneurs.
The policy further includes reimbursement of up to ₹1 lakh for business license and registration fees, along with financial assistance to participate in trade fairs and exhibitions at regional and national levels. These initiatives are expected to enhance visibility and market connectivity for women-led enterprises.
Focus on Digital Literacy and Market Expansion
Recognizing the growing importance of digital commerce, the policy also emphasizes digital literacy, mentoring programmes, and e-commerce marketing support. Training sessions will help women entrepreneurs adopt online business platforms, enabling them to reach broader markets beyond the state.
Industry experts believe these initiatives will strengthen Tripura’s emerging startup and micro-industry ecosystem while encouraging innovation among women-led enterprises.
Government’s Vision for Women-Led Development
Speaking at the launch, Minister Chakma said the policy represents a progressive vision aimed at unlocking the economic potential of women across the state.
“This policy reflects a forward-looking approach to building an enabling ecosystem where women can transform their ideas into successful enterprises. It will usher in a new era of women-led development in Tripura,” she said.
She also highlighted the government’s commitment to strengthening women’s participation through 33 percent reservation benefits across several sectors. Since 2018, the number of self-help groups in the state has expanded significantly, with more than 5 lakh women members actively participating in economic activities.
According to officials, over 1.08 lakh women in Tripura have already achieved the status of ‘Lakhpati Didis’, demonstrating the success of grassroots entrepreneurship initiatives.
Support for Micro Food Processing and Small Industries
The programme also featured discussions on the Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises Scheme, highlighting the government’s ongoing efforts to support micro food processing industries and rural enterprises.
Senior officials including Industries and Commerce Secretary Kiran Gitte, Director Deepak Kumar, TIBAL Chairman Samir Ranjan Ghosh, and SLBC Convener Rituraj Krishna attended the event along with bank representatives, self-help group members, and entrepreneurs.
