Tripura records 10–11% GSDP growth surpassing national average, says CM Manik Saha. Assembly adopts Governor’s address highlighting development, literacy, healthcare expansion, and crime reduction, reinforcing the state’s roadmap toward Viksit Bharat 2047.

Tripura has emerged as one of India’s fastest-growing states, with its Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) registering an impressive growth rate of 10–11 percent, significantly higher than the national average. The announcement was made by Chief Minister Manik Saha during a key session of the state assembly.

The Tripura Legislative Assembly on Wednesday unanimously adopted the Motion of Thanks to Governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu’s address after an extensive discussion involving both treasury and opposition benches. The debate saw participation from eight MLAs alongside the Chief Minister, reflecting a wide spectrum of political perspectives.

Despite the robust debate, as many as 147 amendments proposed by opposition members were rejected through a voice vote. The motion was eventually passed unanimously, indicating consensus on the broader developmental vision outlined in the Governor’s speech.

Backing the motion, Chief Minister Manik Saha described the Governor’s address as a comprehensive document capturing the state’s achievements and future roadmap. He emphasized that Tripura’s development strategy is aligned with the national vision of building a “Viksit Bharat” by 2047, focusing on inclusive growth and long-term sustainability.

The Chief Minister underscored that the state’s progress is not solely driven by the government or ruling party legislators but is the result of collective efforts by the people. Addressing opposition concerns, he asserted that the issues raised through amendments had already been incorporated in the Governor’s address.

Highlighting key achievements, Saha noted that Tripura’s current GSDP growth of 10–11 percent outpaces the national average of approximately 7.4 percent, positioning the state as a strong economic performer. He also announced that Tripura has attained full literacy status, with the literacy rate rising to 95.6 percent from 87.75 percent in 2011, making it the third-highest in the country.

In the education and healthcare sectors, the government has undertaken several initiatives to strengthen infrastructure and accessibility. Plans include the establishment of new colleges, expansion of medical seats, and the creation of a dedicated health university. Additionally, infrastructure development for a dental college is underway with an investment of nearly Rs 200 crore, while efforts are being made to enhance bed capacity at GBP Medical College.

Law and order have also seen significant improvements. According to the Chief Minister, overall crime rates declined by 8.33 percent between April and November 2025 compared to the previous year. Crimes against women dropped by 11 percent, rape cases decreased by 33 percent, and murder cases fell by 26 percent, reflecting enhanced policing and administrative efficiency.

Calling for constructive engagement, Saha urged opposition members to contribute positively to policy discussions and collaborate in building a stronger and more developed Tripura. He reiterated the government’s commitment to inclusive development, aiming to transform the state into a key contributor to India’s growth story by 2047.
