Tripura Government to sign MoU with Patanjali for collaborations in yoga, wellness, agriculture, and digital education, aiming at holistic development, employment, and tourism growth across the state through strategic partnerships and large-scale sustainable initiatives.
In a transformative initiative aimed at unlocking Tripura’s vast potential, the state government is preparing to sign a comprehensive Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Patanjali Group, covering multiple areas of development. This move is expected to significantly enhance Tripura’s socio-economic landscape through strategic collaborations in yoga, wellness, spiritual tourism, agriculture, education, renewable energy, and information technology.
Hon’ble Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha met with Dr. Acharya Balkrishna, Secretary General of Patanjali Yogpeeth, and other senior members of the Patanjali team at the State Secretariat. Discussions focused on potential collaborations in establishing yoga and wellness centres, biodiversity parks, a fossil museum, model schools, skill training centres, and digital agriculture ventures.
Top state officials including Secretary to the CM Pradip Chakraborty, Industries Secretary Kiran Gitte, and department heads from agriculture and horticulture participated in the high-level meeting. The proposed initiatives are expected to bring massive employment opportunities and position Tripura as a frontrunner in holistic development among northeastern states.

Highlighting the state’s rich natural resources and archaeological heritage, Dr. Saha emphasized the potential for religious tourism around sites like the Tripura Sundari Temple and Unakoti rock carvings. He invited Patanjali to help explore and expand these possibilities.
Dr. Balkrishna expressed keen interest in investing in Tripura’s emerging sectors. He outlined plans for a large-scale yoga and wellness centre and mentioned Patanjali’s willingness to support religious events and biodiversity conservation. The partnership will also encourage rural and tribal artisans through training and infrastructure development.
On the same day, a Mega Oil Palm Plantation Programme was held at the Garjee Sector in Gomati District, reflecting the state’s commitment to agricultural innovation. The plantation was carried out on 5 hectares of land owned by Smt. Thanda Devi Jamatia, a progressive farmer who switched from lemon to oil palm cultivation.

The event was graced by Finance Minister Shri Pranajit Singh Roy, Matabari MLA Shri Abhishek Deb Roy, and Kakraban MLA Shri Jitendra Majumder. Senior agricultural officials and Patanjali State Head Shri Ayan Sarkar also attended. Sarkar briefed attendees on Patanjali’s future roadmap for oil palm cultivation under the National Mission on Edible Oils – Oil Palm (NMEO-OP).
Finance Minister Roy encouraged local farmers to embrace oil palm, assuring support through training, subsidies, and market access. The programme witnessed high public participation, reflecting enthusiasm among farmers.
Together, these initiatives mark the beginning of a new chapter in Tripura’s march toward sustainable, inclusive development with strategic support from Patanjali.
