Mob Lynches Driver, Torches Vehicle After Accident in Kalishasan Tea Garden, Unakoti District
In a horrific incident an enraged mob lynched one person and burnt down a vehicle following an accident in Kalishasan tea garden area. Following the incident huge tension swept entire Kailasahar and its adjoining areas and security had to be beefed up.

According to preliminary reports, a car veered off the road and crashed into a roadside drain after hitting a tea garden worker. The victim, identified as Logen Uran, reportedly sustained a serious leg fracture in the collision. In the immediate aftermath of the accident, the driver and two other occupants of the vehicle fled the scene, escaping into the nearby tea garden to evade the crowd that had begun to gather.
The situation escalated rapidly when local residents, incensed by the accident, pursued the occupants. The driver, later identified as Pradip Das, a resident of Ratiabari in Kumarghat, was found hiding in the tea bushes. He was allegedly beaten to death on the spot by the mob. Following the lynching, the crowd returned to the accident site and set the vehicle ablaze in an act of collective fury.
Meanwhile, personnel from the local Fire Service arrived and managed to rescue the injured worker. Logen Uran was promptly shifted to the Unakoti District Hospital for medical treatment.
Top police officials, including Unakoti Superintendent of Police Sudambika R., Additional SP V. Darlong, and SDPO of Kailashahar Jayanta Karmakar, rushed to the scene with a large force to contain the situation and initiate a preliminary investigation.

During the course of the inquiry, one of the vehicle’s passengers, identified as Nirmal Das from the Pecharthal market area, emerged from the tea garden and voluntarily surrendered to police. He was taken into custody and transported to the Kailashahar police station for questioning.
Nirmal Das informed investigators that there were three people in the vehicle at the time of the incident, with the deceased Pradip Das as the driver. The third passenger, Dipen Debnath, a resident of Kumarghat, reportedly managed to escape the area and safely reached home.
As of the latest reports, no official statement has been issued by the police regarding the incident. However, the brutal mob violence and subsequent arson have sent shockwaves throughout the Kailashahar sub-division, prompting widespread concern and calls for calm in the community.
