Tripura Govt reshuffles administration at IAS, IFS and TCS levels
In a recent administrative restructuring, the state government has announced a series of transfers and reassignments affecting several Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Forest Service (IFS), and Tripura Civil Service (TCS) officers, including a District Magistrate (DM). This reshuffle, aimed at optimizing administrative efficiency, involves key changes in postings across various departments and districts.

The details of the transfers and additional charges are as follows:
- Dilip Kumar Chakma, IAS, previously serving as the District Magistrate and Collector of Unakoti District, has been transferred and appointed as the Municipal Commissioner of Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC). This move is expected to leverage his administrative expertise to enhance municipal governance in the state capital.
- Dr. Vishal Kumar, IAS, who held the position of District Magistrate and Collector of West Tripura District while also managing the additional responsibility of Municipal Commissioner, AMC, has been relieved of his additional charge as Municipal Commissioner. He will continue to serve as the DM and Collector of West Tripura District, focusing solely on district administration.
- Tamal Majumdar, IAS, formerly the Additional Secretary to the Government of Tripura in the Revenue and General Administration (Administrative Reforms) Department, has been reassigned as the District Magistrate and Collector of Unakoti District. This transfer fills the vacancy left by Dilip Kumar Chakma and is anticipated to strengthen district-level governance in Unakoti.
- K. Shashi Kumar, IFS, Chief Conservator of Forests (Territorial) and Secretary of the Science, Technology & Environment Department, has been entrusted with the additional charge of Secretary, Tribal Welfare (including Tripura Rehabilitation Plantation & Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups) Department. Concurrently, he has been relieved of his additional role as Secretary of the Science, Technology & Environment Department to streamline his responsibilities.
- Brijesh Pandey, IAS, serving as the Chief Electoral Officer of Tripura and Secretary of the Tribal Welfare (including TRP & PTG) Department, among other roles, has been relieved of his duties in the Tribal Welfare Department. He will continue to oversee his other responsibilities, including the critical role of Chief Electoral Officer.
- Chaitanya Murti, IFS, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF) for Tripura, has been assigned the additional role of Principal Secretary of the Science, Technology & Environment Department. This new responsibility complements his existing duties and underscores the government’s focus on integrating environmental expertise into policy-making.
- Subrata Datta, TCS Grade-I, previously Senior Deputy Collector in the Office of the District Magistrate and Collector, West Tripura District, has been transferred and posted as Deputy Secretary in the Revenue Department, Government of Tripura, Agartala. This reassignment aims to utilize his experience in revenue administration at the state level.
- Rupon Das, TCS Grade-I, formerly the Additional Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) of Sonamura, has been transferred and appointed as Deputy Secretary in the Revenue Department, Government of Tripura, Agartala. His transfer is expected to bolster the department’s capacity in handling revenue-related matters.Earlier, while replying to a question fromthe media relating to DM Gomati District Tarit Kanti Chaka and TIPRA Motha supremo Pradyot Kishore Debbarman Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha said that he would look into the recent controversy soon after a detailed report was given to him.
” We have to settle the matter in a manner that everyone’s , everyone’s honour is respected”, he said and then added that there might be some comunication gap, otherwise such incident could not have happened.
DM, Pradyot Kishore Row “Such incident is not happen” , he said and then the Chief Minister stressed that the matter should be resolved in a cordial manner with everyone’s honour – in essence Pradyot Kishore as well as DM Gomati’s -being respected.
The Chief Minister said that Pradyot Kishore made a phone call to him to apprise him of the incident and later he also spoke to the Chief Secretary. Besides the TIPRA Motha delegations also submitted a deputation to him.
“However, I can take a stand on the matter only after I receive a written report on this”, he tol the media.
