Tripura Governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu highlights PM Modi’s vision of transforming border villages into “first villages” with improved facilities, stronger welfare implementation, and enhanced humanitarian support during his visit to Belonia Hospital and the Red Cross Society.

During a comprehensive two-day district tour, Tripura Governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu reiterated the Centre’s commitment to transforming India’s border regions by upgrading facilities and ensuring that development reaches even the remotest corners of the state. On Wednesday, the Governor visited Belonia Hospital and the Red Cross Society’s District Office, where he highlighted the government’s evolving approach toward border villages.

Speaking to officials and local residents, Governor Nallu stated that villages once labeled as the nation’s “last villages” are now being recognized as the “first villages,” reflecting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of inclusive development. He emphasized that the central government aims to bring urban-level facilities to border regions, ensuring that amenities available in Agartala, the state capital, are equally accessible to people living in remote areas.

According to the Governor, this shift in perspective underscores the government’s holistic development approach, which focuses on bridging the gap between urban and rural infrastructure. He explained that his ongoing visits to the border regions are intended to personally review the progress of welfare schemes and evaluate how effectively these initiatives are being implemented on the ground.

Governor Nallu underlined that border communities often face unique challenges due to geographical limitations, restricted mobility, and limited access to essential services. Therefore, special attention is being given to these villages to enhance healthcare, education, connectivity, and livelihood opportunities. He also noted that improved infrastructure in border areas strengthens both national security and community resilience.

During his visit to the Red Cross Society’s District Office, the Governor addressed a public gathering and praised the organization for its long-standing humanitarian role in Tripura. He commended the Red Cross for its extensive service during the Covid-19 pandemic, when volunteers distributed free medicines, held health camps, and provided emergency support to vulnerable families. He added that the Red Cross played an essential part during natural disasters, including floods, by offering immediate relief to families who lost their homes and belongings.

Describing the Red Cross Society’s contribution as “commendable,” Governor Nallu urged more citizens, especially retired professionals with rich experience, to join the organization as volunteers. Their involvement, he said, would help expand the reach of humanitarian activities and strengthen community support networks across the state.

The Governor also highlighted the importance of the national campaign for TB-Mukt Bharat, emphasizing that community awareness is as crucial as medical intervention for eliminating tuberculosis. He encouraged Red Cross members, NGOs, and local leaders to take proactive steps in spreading awareness about TB prevention, treatment, and early detection. According to him, empowering people with knowledge is a powerful tool for eradicating the disease from the grassroots level.

Furthermore, the Governor reiterated the government’s resolve to uplift socio-economic conditions in all parts of Tripura. He said that development is meaningful only when the benefits of government schemes reach those in the most remote and challenging geographical locations. By prioritizing infrastructure, healthcare, education, and digital connectivity in border regions, the administration aims to create equal opportunities for all citizens.

Governor Nallu also interacted with healthcare personnel during his visit to Belonia Hospital, where he reviewed medical facilities, patient services, and the availability of essential supplies. He stressed the need for continued improvement in rural healthcare systems to ensure that residents of border regions do not have to travel long distances for basic medical needs.

District Magistrate Muhammad Sajjap P, along with several senior officials, accompanied the Governor during his tour. Authorities assured him that they are working diligently to implement welfare programs efficiently and address any gaps in service delivery.

The Governor’s visit underscores a broader development narrative in Tripura—one that emphasizes empowerment, inclusiveness, and a renewed focus on building strong and self-reliant border communities.
