Elite National Boxing Championships rescheduled due to pollution control measures

Must Read

The elite men’s and women’s national boxing championships were rescheduled yesterday to January 4 to 10 due to pollution control measures mandated by the Government.

The championships were earlier scheduled from December 31 to January 6 at Gautam Buddha University in Greater Noida.

The Boxing Federation of India said that in light of the pollution control measures mandated by the Government and effective until 31st December 2025, the Championship will now be held from 4th January to 10th January 2026, at the same venue.

The Supreme Court had on November 19 asked the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) to consider directing schools in Delhi-NCR to postpone open-air sports competitions planned in November and December to safer months, keeping in mind air pollution levels.

Universities, colleges and sports associations recognised by national federations and the Union Sports Ministry were also asked to follow the order.
