Tripura CM Dr. Manik Saha will attend the Global Pineapple Festival 2026 in New Delhi as the state showcases its GI-tagged Queen Pineapple, promotes tourism, honours farmers, highlights agricultural achievements, and strengthens national and international market opportunities for pineapple growers.
Tripura is set to showcase its world-famous GI-tagged Queen Pineapple on the national stage as Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha will attend the three-day Global Pineapple Festival 2026, scheduled to be held in New Delhi from June 27 to June 29. The event, hosted by the Tripura government at the iconic Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium, aims to promote the state’s premium pineapple variety, strengthen market opportunities for farmers, and highlight Tripura’s tourism, agriculture, and cultural heritage.
The inaugural ceremony of the festival will witness the presence of Union Minister for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) Jyotiraditya M. Scindia as the Chief Guest. Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha and Union Minister of State for DoNER Dr. Sukanta Majumder will also participate in the opening programme. Union Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta are expected to visit the festival on the second and third day respectively.
Ahead of the event, Tripura Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Ratan Lal Nath departed for New Delhi on Thursday to oversee preparations and participate in the festival. During his journey from Agartala to the national capital, the minister presented fresh Queen Pineapples from Tripura to the pilot, co-pilot, and cabin crew of an IndiGo flight as a symbolic gesture of pride, gratitude, and goodwill.
Sharing the moment on social media, Nath described the Queen Pineapple as much more than a fruit. He said it reflects the dedication of Tripura’s hardworking farmers, the fertility of the state’s soil, and the growing identity and pride of Tripura across the country.

The Global Pineapple Festival will feature nearly 25 exhibition stalls representing various state government departments. These stalls will showcase Tripura’s agricultural products, tourism destinations, handicrafts, rural industries, and ongoing development initiatives. Cultural performances and exhibitions highlighting the state’s rich traditions and heritage will also be organised throughout the three-day event.
Officials said the festival is designed to honour pineapple growers, expand domestic and international market access, attract investment in the horticulture sector, and promote Tripura as an emerging destination for agriculture-based tourism. The event is also expected to create new business opportunities for farmers, entrepreneurs, exporters, and stakeholders connected with the pineapple value chain.
In a recent video message, Agriculture Minister Ratan Lal Nath stated that Tripura primarily cultivates two pineapple varieties—Queen and Kew. Among them, the Queen Pineapple has earned national recognition after receiving the prestigious Geographical Indication (GI) Tag, making it one of the state’s most valuable horticultural products.
According to the minister, pineapples are currently cultivated across 12,097 hectares in Tripura, with an average annual production of approximately 1,78,062 metric tonnes. The government has been working to enhance production, improve quality, and ensure better returns for growers through scientific farming methods and market expansion.
To further accelerate the sector’s growth, the state government recently launched the ambitious Mission Queen Pineapple, Tripura, a three-year project worth Rs 236 crore in New Delhi on May 27. The flagship initiative seeks to increase production, improve post-harvest infrastructure, strengthen value addition, and help farmers significantly enhance their incomes.
