Over 2.84 lakh farmers in Tripura received ₹45.43 crore under the 20th PM-KISAN instalment, as announced by CM Manik Saha. The funds were disbursed directly to farmers’ accounts via DBT, reaffirming PM Modi’s commitment to empowering India’s agricultural community through transparency and impactful rural welfare schemes.
In a boost to the farming community of Tripura, over 2.84 lakh farmers in the state have received a total of ₹45.43 crore under the 20th instalment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme. The announcement was made by Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha after he virtually attended the national launch event led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi from Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh.
Speaking at a state-level program held at the State Agricultural Research Center in A.D. Nagar, Dr. Saha said, “Under the visionary leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, various steps have been taken to empower our farmers. PM Kisan Samman Nidhi is a significant step in this direction.”
The Prime Minister virtually disbursed a total of ₹20,500 crore to approximately 9.7 crore farmers across the country during the event. Of this amount, ₹45.43 crore was directly transferred to the bank accounts of 2.84 lakh farmers in Tripura, showcasing the government’s emphasis on transparency and efficiency through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
PM Modi’s Leadership Lauded
Dr. Saha praised PM Modi for his unwavering commitment to the welfare of farmers and for ensuring that benefits reach them without any middlemen. “Earlier, DBT was not a common practice. Now, money goes directly to the farmers’ bank accounts. This government is truly transparent,” the Chief Minister said.

Highlighting the growth of the PM-KISAN scheme since its inception in 2019, he stated that farmers receive ₹6,000 annually in three equal instalments. Tripura currently has 2.90 lakh registered farmers under the scheme, and in the 19th instalment, over 2.84 lakh farmers had also received their due share.
Dr. Saha also referenced India’s strengthened military response under PM Modi’s leadership, citing the recent Operation Sindoor and the government’s strong stance against terrorism. He drew comparisons with the pre-2014 era, pointing out the lack of decisive action by the then-government during terrorist attacks such as the one on the Taj Hotel and the Indian Parliament.

Tripura has also made strides in Minimum Support Price (MSP) procurement. “We started purchasing paddy at an MSP of ₹23 per kg, and so far, 2,25,365 metric tonnes of paddy have been procured from farmers, bringing them ₹446 crore,” the Chief Minister informed.
Another notable initiative includes the rise of 51,000 ‘Lakhpati Didis’, women entrepreneurs empowered under various rural schemes, further enhancing Tripura’s development model.

The state-level program was attended by Agriculture Minister Ratan Lal Nath and other senior officials who expressed optimism about the state’s agricultural future. They reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring that every eligible farmer benefits from centrally sponsored schemes.
