BJP in Tripura is preparing intensively for upcoming Village Council and TTAADC polls, with CM Manik Saha leading Janajati outreach efforts. The party highlights PM Modi’s tribal welfare initiatives and pledges grassroots engagement to secure support in the state’s tribal regions.
The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Tripura has intensified its political preparations ahead of the upcoming Village Council (VC) and Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) elections. Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Wednesday declared that the party is “fully prepared” to contest and win these crucial polls, which will shape the political landscape of the state’s tribal areas.
The BJP has launched a comprehensive outreach campaign targeting the Janajati (tribal) communities, a key demographic in Tripura’s electoral politics. The initiative includes public meetings, grassroots mobilization, and policy discussions aimed at addressing long-standing concerns of the tribal population. The campaign has been designed to consolidate the party’s organizational strength within the TTAADC, which holds significant political weight in the state.
Important Party Meeting on Tribal Strategy
On Wednesday, Chief Minister Dr. Saha chaired a high-level strategy meeting of the BJP’s Janajati Morcha at the party’s state headquarters. The meeting was attended by BJP state president Rajib Bhattacharjee, party general secretary (organization) for Assam and Tripura units Ravindra Raju, Tribal Welfare Minister Bikas Debbarma, Industries and Commerce Minister Santana Chakma, and Janajati Morcha state president Parimal Debbarma.

Discussions centered on strengthening the BJP’s grassroots presence in tribal areas, ensuring efficient delivery of welfare schemes, and planning election campaigns at both the village council and district council levels.
Chief Minister Saha later addressed the media, stating that both the government and the party would work jointly to resolve issues affecting the Janajati population. He noted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership has been instrumental in prioritizing the welfare of tribal communities, which had been neglected for decades.
PM Modi’s Tribal Focus
Highlighting the BJP’s larger national narrative, Dr. Saha reminded that tribal communities across India faced systematic neglect before 2014. According to him, it was only after Narendra Modi became Prime Minister that focused efforts began to uplift Janajati communities.
“PM Modi has always emphasized welfare up to the last mile, ensuring that no community remains excluded. Tripura is also following this vision, and the state government is committed to working for the holistic development of our Janajati brothers and sisters,” he said.
This statement underscores the BJP’s attempt to link its state-level electoral strategies with the central government’s policies, thereby reinforcing its credibility among tribal voters.
Election Readiness and Confidence
When asked about the party’s preparedness, Dr. Saha asserted confidently, “We are ready to face the elections to Village Council of TTAADC.” This readiness, he said, reflects both the BJP’s organizational strength and the trust it has built among the Janajati communities through welfare programs and active engagement.
Party insiders said that BJP’s strategy is to counter regional tribal parties and opposition forces by projecting itself as both a governing force and a community partner. The upcoming VC and ADC polls are being seen as a litmus test for the BJP’s ability to maintain dominance in tribal regions, which often act as swing constituencies in state-level elections.
Leaders Share Updates on Strategy
The Chief Minister also shared a brief update on the meeting via social media,
“Today at the BJP state office, I participated in a special meeting with State President Rajib Bhattacharjee, Organization General Secretary Ravindra Raju, senior office-bearers of the state, and Janajati leaders. Various organizational issues were discussed in detail during the meeting.”
The post highlighted the unity within the party’s leadership in approaching the elections with seriousness and collective effort.
Significance of the Polls
The TTAADC elections, along with the village council polls under its jurisdiction, hold enormous importance in Tripura politics. Nearly two-thirds of the state’s geographical area falls under the ADC, and the outcome of these elections is often regarded as a reflection of political sentiment in tribal-dominated regions.

For the BJP, a strong performance in these polls would reaffirm its grassroots penetration in the state and consolidate its position before future state assembly elections. Conversely, setbacks in these elections could embolden opposition forces, including tribal-based parties and the CPI(M)-led Left Front.
As the countdown begins for the elections, the BJP is banking on its robust Janajati outreach, strong organizational structure, and central leadership’s emphasis on tribal welfare. With the Chief Minister himself leading the campaign narrative, the party has signaled that it will leave no stone unturned in its effort to secure victory in both the VC and ADC polls.
