During the last four years there has been a meteoric rise in the bilateral trade with Bangladesh – which as of the day has pegged the growth from Rs. 390 crore in 2017-18 to Rs. 1008.40 crore in 2021-22. Percentage wise the increase stands at a whooping 158 percent.
Special secretary to the Industries and Commerce department Abhishek Chandra in a press conference on Friday has said, apart from the increase in bilateral trade with Bangladesh, at domestic fields Pradhan Mantri Gati Shakti Yojana is expected to give an impetus to the development of power and communication.
“The Industries and Commerce department would act as the nodal department for implementing the scheme in the state and a master plan would be formulated for effective implementation of the schemes related”, he said.
The Tripura Industrial Development Corporation (TIDC) is also expected to ask for fund from the ADB to strengthen and expedite the infrastructural development in all the industrial centres.
The TIDC has already prepared RPF for selection of investors for the proposed Special Economic Zone.
Chandra has said the state government is mulling to idea to extend rubber plantation in the state to 30,000 hectares of land under the Mukhyamantri Rubber Mission Prakalpa. This plantation areas will be added to the existing 46,892 hectare rubber plantations area in the state which produces 90,172 TPA.
Besides, the secretary has said, , a plan is afoot for setting up rubber processing unit and modern smoke house under PMEGP and Swabalamban scheme. In the year 2021-22, he said, 955 youths were provided loans of Rs. 61.46 crore under the Pradhan Mantri Employment Generation Programme.
Apart from others Chandra also has given details about the SANKALP scheme of the Skill Development Programme, an entrepreneurship development programme with 390 SHG beneficiaries as well as training of 340 plus women.
