Tripura Agri Minister Ratan Lal Nath met Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan in New Delhi to discuss farmers’ welfare, agricultural development, and state priorities. The meeting highlighted cooperation on boosting farm incomes, strengthening rural initiatives, and aligning Tripura’s agriculture sector with national programmes.
A detailed discussion on agricultural development and farmers’ welfare took place in New Delhi on Tuesday as Tripura Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Ratan Lal Nath met Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan to deliberate on the state’s priorities in the farming sector.
The meeting assumed significance at a time when Tripura is intensifying efforts to strengthen its agricultural foundation, improve the economic condition of farmers, and align state-level initiatives with various national agricultural programmes introduced by the central government.
Sharing details of the interaction through his social media platform, Ratan Lal Nath described the meeting as productive and meaningful. He stated that it was “a privilege to exchange thoughts on the development of the agriculture sector and the welfare of our farmers.”
During the meeting, the Tripura minister also extended traditional greetings to the Union Agriculture Minister on behalf of the people of the state. As a mark of respect and cultural identity, Nath felicitated Shivraj Singh Chouhan with the traditional “Risha,” a handwoven cloth that represents the rich cultural heritage of Tripura.

In his statement, Nath said that the gesture symbolized “respect, culture, and warm greetings” from the people of Tripura. The minister further emphasized the importance of stronger coordination between the state and the Centre to ensure better implementation of agricultural schemes and rural development initiatives.
The discussions reportedly focused on key agricultural priorities, including measures aimed at increasing farmers’ incomes, improving agricultural infrastructure, strengthening support mechanisms for cultivators, and encouraging sustainable farming practices across Tripura. The state government has recently been placing greater emphasis on agricultural productivity and rural economic growth, considering agriculture remains a major source of livelihood for a significant portion of the population.
Apart from the ministerial meeting, Ratan Lal Nath also attended the launch event of the book Apnapan – Narendra Modi Sang Mere Anubhav in New Delhi. The book was launched in the presence of several senior national leaders and dignitaries.
Speaking about the event, Nath said he felt privileged to participate in the programme organised by Shivraj Singh Chouhan. According to the Tripura minister, the book reflects Chouhan’s “deep personal experiences, compassionate leadership, dedicated working style, and strong emotional bond nurtured under the visionary guidance” of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The occasion witnessed the presence of former Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu, former Prime Minister H. D. Deve Gowda, along with several Chief Ministers, Union Ministers, and Members of Parliament from different parts of the country.
