Asish Kumar Saha, the president of the Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) and the Lok Sabha candidate for the West Tripura seat under the I.N.D.I.A. bloc, rallied the public to boycott the alliance between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and TIPRA Motha.

Speaking at a Bazaar Sabha in Killa Bazaar, Bagma assembly constituency, Saha aggressively criticised TIPRA Motha’s leader, Pradyot Kishore Debbarman, accusing him of abandoning the trust of indigenous communities.

Saha denounced Debbarman’s alleged shift in allegiance, stating, “Despite previously condemning the ruling BJP and its leaders, Pradyot Kishore’s recent alignment with them for personal gain is a betrayal of the tribal populace.” He urged tribal constituents to question Debbarman’s sincerity towards their welfare, highlighting discrepancies between his promises and actions.

Asserting the need to reject the BJP-TIPRA Motha alliance, Saha emphasized Debbarman’s purported disregard for the interests of the Tiprasa people, emphasizing his focus on personal and familial enrichment over community prosperity.

During his address, Saha also criticized the BJP governments at both the state and central levels, citing concerns over rising unemployment and inflation. He pledged that, if elected, the Congress party would prioritise granting essential rights and resources to tribal communities.

The meeting witnessed the presence of notable figures, including former CPI-M minister Ratan Bhowmik and Titan Pal, the President of Udaipur District Congress, signalling unified opposition against the BJP-TIPRA Motha alliance and support for the I.N.D.I.A. bloc candidates.
