Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury reviews ongoing eco-tourism infrastructure works at Chabimura, inspecting log huts and development projects aimed at promoting sustainable tourism and positioning the state as a global travel destination.

The Department of Tourism has intensified its focus on infrastructure development and visitor-centric initiatives. The latest efforts are aimed at transforming natural heritage sites into world-class tourist hubs capable of attracting both domestic and international travelers.

One of the key initiatives currently underway is the construction of eco-friendly log huts at prominent tourist locations. These accommodations are designed to blend seamlessly with the natural environment while offering modern amenities, catering especially to travelers seeking sustainable and immersive travel experiences. Officials believe such facilities will significantly enhance the state’s appeal among global tourists increasingly drawn to nature-based tourism.

On Wednesday, Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury conducted an on-site inspection of the ongoing tourism infrastructure projects at Chabimura, a destination widely admired for its dramatic rock carvings and picturesque setting along the Gomati River. The visit underscored the government’s commitment to ensuring timely execution and quality construction at one of the state’s most iconic heritage sites.

The Minister arrived at Roddur Khamar at around 1 p.m., where he was formally received by the Amarpur subdivision administration. He was accompanied by local MLA Ranjit Das, along with senior officials, engineers, and representatives from the tourism department. Together, they reviewed the progress of construction works and assessed whether the projects were adhering to prescribed quality and safety standards.

During the inspection, Chowdhury examined the newly built log huts, which are expected to play a pivotal role in boosting tourist footfall. The huts have been designed with a focus on environmental sustainability, using locally appropriate materials while ensuring comfort for visitors. Officials briefed the Minister on timelines, challenges, and future expansion plans linked to the project.

Chowdhury also held detailed discussions with engineers and contractors, emphasizing the importance of maintaining construction quality without compromising the ecological balance of the area. He stressed that tourism development must go hand in hand with environmental conservation, especially in locations with significant natural and cultural value.

Speaking during the visit, the Tourism Minister said that the department has several initiatives in the pipeline to strengthen tourism infrastructure across the state. “Our objective is not only to improve facilities for visitors but also to make our destinations globally competitive. We are committed to elevating the region’s profile on the international tourism circuit,” he said.
