Sri Lanka: HC of India observes ITEC Day as decided during visit of President Dissanayake to India

The High Commission of India in Sri Lanka observed the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) day in Colombo which was attended by ITEC alumni in huge numbers. Speaking at the event, the High Commissioner of India to Sri Lanka. Mr. Santosh Jha said that since 2015 the ITEC programme has grown immensely and over 2500 courses have been held benefiting over 225,000 participants.
Meanwhile, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs Arun Hemachandra said that under the capacity-building initiative, the robust relationship between the two countries will further fortify. On the occasion, ITEC alumni serving in the Sri Lanka Administrative Service shared their experiences. It is notable that during the recent visit of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake to India, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Mr Dissanayake announced a capacity building programme for training 1500 Sri Lankan civil servants over the next five years. So far, 200 civil servants have trained under the ITEC programme since 2024.
