MoS signed : NLFT, ATTF to come overground en masse

As scheduled a Memorandum of Settlement was signed between the state government , state government and two militant groups NLFT and ATTF in New Delhi, in presence of Home Minister Amit Shah and Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Wednesday. Both the banned out fits were for the last decade were virtually defunct and elft in the cold. Yet, the government thought of signing some sort of agreement with them and end the menace for good. 

Now, after the agreement it is leant that as many as 327 militants will surrender before the authority. How many arms they will surrender is not known as yet. In the Rehabiltation package policy it was also stated that militants FIR named in Special Report cases like murder, kidnapping , rape cannot be exonerated and will have to face trial in the court of law. Fact is most of the leaders ( all top leaders had already surrendered decades ago -except Biswamohan Dabbarma of the NLFT while many others were arrested) face cases which are categorised as Special Report cases.

In New Delhi's event on Wednesday Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha along with former Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb, MLA Ranjit Debbarma, Chief Secretary of Tripura J.K. Sinha , Intelligence Bureau Director Tapan Deka, Advisor NE A K Mishra, Joint Secretary MHA P K Goyal , founder of Tipra Motha Party Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma, and representatives of NLFT and ATTF like Biswamohan Debbarma, Upendra Debbarma  were present . 

The Chief Minister expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah for being instrumental in creating an atmosphere of peace, prosperity and good will in the entire North East region.

He said, under the leadership of the Prime Minister and proactive initiative of the home Minister, a dozen of peace agreements have been signed in the entire North East region over the past 10 years to resolve many of the complex issues, out of which three agreements are for Tripura.

"It’s a matter of great satisfaction that the NLFT and ATTF members have decided to join the mainstream for participation in the development journey spearheaded by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. There are many schemes and programmes of both the central and state governments which have been transforming the lives of the people including Janajati people, the chief Minister said.
