Chief Minister Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha urged all concerned to make Agartala Book Fair a success at a meeting at the Agartala Book Fair Steering Committee meeting held at Muktadhara Auditorium yesterday. Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation Deepak Majumdar, MLA MinaRani Sarkar, Vice-Chancellor of MBB University Satyadeo Poddar, Ex-Vice-Chancellor of Tripura University Arunoday Saha were present in the meeting.

The 41st Agartala Book Fair will begin on March 24 at Hapania International Fair Grounds. The fair will continue till April 5. Participating in the meeting, the Chief Minister said that the book fair started in the premises of Rabindra Bhavan. After organizing the Agartala Book Fair at Children Park, Umakanta Academy School premises, it is now going to be held at Hapania Fair ground. It is easy to understand that the purview of book fairs is expanding. The Chief Minister informed that G-20 meeting will be held at Agartala during the book fair. Representatives of different countries will participate in the meeting. Therefore, the Chief Minister urged everyone to make 41st Agartala Book Fair a success by keeping the reputation and tradition of the state intact.

Secretary of Information and Cultural Affairs Department Dr. Pradeep Kumar Chakravarty while participating in the meeting said that representatives of different countries participating in the G- 20 meeting will visit book fair. Let there be no fault in their hospitality. He urged everyone for that. At the beginning of the meeting, Director of Information and Cultural Affairs Department Ratan Biswas gave details about the preparations for organizing book fair. He informed that 17 awards will be given in different categories at book fair. Cultural programmes will be organized daily. Vehicles will be arranged from certain places to the fair premises as in other years for
travelling to and from the book fair. He informed that there were 162 stalls in the book fair last year. The number of stalls will increase this year.
