Tipra Motha spokesperson and MDC Rajeshwar Debbarma has urged Chief Minister Manik Saha to order a fair and impartial inquiry into BJP MLA Kalyani Roy’s recent visit to Teliamura Sub-Divisional Hospital. He also sought guidelines for MLA visits and improvements in healthcare services, staffing, medicines, and infrastructure.
Tipra Motha Party spokesperson and Member of District Council (MDC) Rajeshwar Debbarma has called upon Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha to order a fair and impartial inquiry into the recent visit of Chief Whip and BJP MLA Kalyani Roy to Teliamura Sub-Divisional Hospital, an incident that has triggered widespread public discussion across the state.
In a representation submitted to the Chief Minister, Debbarma referred to Roy’s recent visit to the hospital, during which concerns were raised regarding patient care, hospital administration, and the overall functioning of healthcare services. The visit gained significant attention after videos and reports related to her interaction with Dr. Raja Jamatia, the Sub-Divisional Medical Officer (SDMO), circulated widely on social media platforms.
According to Debbarma, the incident has generated considerable debate among citizens regarding the conduct of elected representatives during official inspections and the manner in which government officials are treated while performing their duties. He emphasized that both elected representatives and government officers have clearly defined responsibilities within the administrative system and that these roles should be respected to ensure effective governance.
The Tipra Motha leader stated that MLAs and other public representatives have a legitimate responsibility to visit public institutions, assess service delivery, and raise concerns brought forward by citizens. At the same time, he stressed that government officials are accountable for their responsibilities and should be allowed to discharge their duties with fairness, dignity, and professional respect.
Debbarma further noted that concerns about the functioning of government institutions should be addressed through established administrative procedures. These procedures, he said, include conducting inspections, documenting deficiencies, seeking written explanations through departmental channels, and raising issues before the government or the Legislative Assembly when necessary.
“When proper procedures are followed, shortcomings can be corrected without weakening the institutional framework or affecting administrative discipline,” Debbarma stated in his representation.
Seeking transparency, he urged the Chief Minister to initiate a comprehensive inquiry not only into the incident involving the MLA’s hospital visit but also into the overall condition of healthcare services at Teliamura Sub-Divisional Hospital. He argued that a balanced investigation would help determine the facts and ensure accountability where required.
In addition, Debbarma requested the government to formulate clear guidelines governing visits by MLAs and public representatives to hospitals and other government offices. Such guidelines, he said, would help address public grievances effectively while maintaining institutional decorum and discipline.
The MDC also highlighted the need to strengthen healthcare services at the hospital by providing additional medical personnel, essential medicines, modern equipment, and improved infrastructure. He expressed hope that such measures would contribute to better patient care and improved public confidence in the healthcare system.

Copies of the representation were also sent to the Chief Secretary, the Secretary of the Health and Family Welfare Department, and the Director of Health Services for information and necessary action. The matter is now expected to draw attention from both administrative and political circles as calls grow for clarity, accountability, and improved healthcare delivery in the state.
