BJP MLA Sudip Roy Barman organized a meeting of disgruntled party leaders and workers at Tulshibati Girls’ School auditorium on Sunday and announced that from now he would carry forward the grievances and suggestions of the leaders and grassroot workers to the state government and party higher ups. He also ruled out any speculation about his joining the Trinamool Congress.
“The government and the party is not listening to the workers”, he says and then adds : “We have arranged a meeting today to provide a platform for the party workers who are upset and annoyed with the party functionaries. We shall summarize the concerns of these workers and approach the party’s central leaderships in Delhi.”
On the recent attacks on Trinamool Congress he has been specific : “There is no room for satisfaction that the law and order situation in the state is normal. There is a huge scope to develop and improve the law and order situation. I would urge the government to provide that scope.”
But he rejected any switch over. “None of us present here did contact the Trinamool Congress. But I do not know about others”, he says.
He said, “Attacks, hooliganism and throttling of democratic rights of the people in the state should be stopped.”
The meeting was attended by MLAs – Ashish Shaha, Ashish Das, some party leaders. Observers, nevertheless, say that Roy Barman who was sidelined and deprived of party limelight for the last few months has tried to test the strength he could manage from across the state.
