The opposition CPM seems to have geared up of late to regain its position in the state Politics. After a massive rally in Belonia on Saturday, CPM has organized two Local Committee Conferences in Unakoti District on Sunday. On both the occasion, participation of supporters indicated a sense of urgency to rejuvenate the party, sources commented.

Supporters rallied through Kumarghat town area in support of a 15-point charter of demand. Later, the supporters assembled at the local Party Office and took part in Kumarghat Town-based Local Committee Conference.

After a similar rally at Fatikroy Assembly Constituency area, CPM supporters participated in Radhanagar Local Committee Conference at Krishnagar High School under Fatikroy.

“We will fight to oppose the misdeeds of BJP governments in the State and the Country. We will give the ruling party a run for its money. Our supporters will not budge under pressure”, Kumarghat CPM party sources claimed and added, Party units in other areas are also gearing up to strengthen the organizational base.

Echoing the same, Radhanagar unit of CPM also put a brave face and reiterated its commitment to fight against the BJP.

Local political observers opined, a renewed enthusiasm was obvious among the CPM supporters. According to the Political Observers, several old-timers who played crucial roles in changing the Government in the State have lost interest and the ruling party has failed to introspect its functioning over the years – this has given the CPM a chance to try making a comeback.

Addressing the Conferences at Kumarghat and Radhanagar, CPM leaders – Samar Roy, Swapan Kumar Baishnab and other leaders – highlighted the ‘failure’ of the ruling party in fulfilling its promises. The leaders also highlighted Government’s ‘failures’ in curbing the skyrocketing prices of essential goods and in ensuring the democratic rights of people.
