The Budget for 2022-23 will be tabled in the Assembly on Thursday by Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varma, who also holds the Finance portfolio. Besised, 10 more Nills will also be tabled for discussion in the House, said sources.The Budget session will begin with the speech of Governor Satyadeo Narain Arya. The budget session is also expected to be stormy one with opposition planning to stage walk out on law and order situation especially attacks on the opposition workers and police failure to take actions.
While ten new Bills including setting up of National Law University are likely to come up in the House, the Budget is expected to include the allocation for Dearness Allowance of the employees, according to sources.
Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb chaired a pre-budget meeting with his cabinet colleagues and BJP-IPFT MLAs on Wednesday. Deb tweeted that the House’s strategy for the Budget session was discussed in the meeting.
Law minister Ratanlal Nath after the meeting said the Budget would have some good news for the people. He said, ten new Bills would come up in the House.
Chief Whip of the Assembly Kalyani Roy said the last Budget of the present term of the BJP-IPFT government would have several announcements for the welfare of the people.
Earlier on Wednesday, Speaker Ratan Chakraborty visited the assembly and reviewed the preparations for the Budget Session.
Chakraborty said, there are some changes in the sitting arrangements of the House following suspension of Ashis Das, resignations of Sudip Roy Barman and Ashis Kumar Saha and demise of former speaker Ramendra Chandra Debnath. It is not yet clear if the IPFT MLA Brishaketu Debbarma would attend the Session.
“I have inspected the new sitting arrangement in the House. All preparations have been put in place for the budget session,” the Speaker told the media.
Meanwhile, the House is likely to witness uproar from the Opposition on the issue of law and order, particularly attacks on opposition party workers.
Former BJP MLA and now Congress leader Sudip Roy Barman and his close associate Ashis Kumar Saha, who were seen speaking on various issues tactically in the House even in the last Session, would miss the show this time.
