A meeting of the state task force on the current situation of covid in the state was held at the secretariat yesterday. Chief Secretary J.K Sinha presided over the meeting. The state task force meeting discussed the current overall situation of Covid in the state. The meeting also discussed on the steps taken in view of the decisions taken in the meeting of the state task force held on July 11, 2022. According to the decision of the meeting, emphasis was laid on ensuring use of mask by the people of the state. Necessary instructions have been given to the police administration to crack down on non-wearing of masks. Imposing  a fine of 200 rupees was also discussed in the meeting for not wearing a mask. Health Secretary Dr. DebashisBasu said that the IEC programme will be conducted across the state to sensitize the people of the state about Covid restrictions. In this regard, installation of digital display boards regarding covid restrictions at railway stations, bus stands, Agartala airport and at various places awareness campaign should be done, Anganwadi workers and asha workers have been appointed to spread awareness about covid restrictions in villages and towns. The health secretary said that there will be regular monitoring to check if the Covid restrictions are being followed properly in public places.

Meanwhile, on 21st July, 2022 at a press conference organized in the Press Conference Hall of the Secretariat, Health Secretary Dr. Debashis Basu said that on July 21 a total of 4,323 samples were tested. Among them, 382 reports have come positive. At present, the state has 2,070 active corona patients. Regarding the vaccination Dr. Mousumi Sarkar said that a total of 55 lakh 59 thousand 787 vaccinations have been done so far in the state. Out of this, 27 lakh 98 thousand 572were given 1st dose, 24 lakh 75 thousand 434 were given second dose and 1 lakh 85 thousand 781were given precautionary dose. Revenue Department Additional Secretary Anindya Bhattacharya was also present at the press conference.
